Center speaker height vs. L/R Mains vs. TV Placement

So, does angling of speakers make-up for their difference in height? Does this hold true for the L/R mains as well? Thanks! Tom

Center speaker height vs. L/R Mains vs. TV Placement

Hi all, A newbie here... What's the maximum distance (height) you would allow between the Center speaker tweeter and the L/R mains? My issue: I'm setting up a home theater w/ a 50" wall-mounted plasma that will be about 12 feet from the seating area. I'm planning on having the screen...

"Which DVD recorder?" or "What's Dolby® Digital decoding?"

Thanks! I just realized that I posted in the Speakers forum  ..Sorry! So, being that the decoding is not an issue, any suggestions as to which recorder to get between these (samsung vs. panasonic). The recorder will be used for watching movies and converting home videos to DVD Tom

    Where to aim my surrounds?

Either way would you want to have the sides and the rear set up the same, or is it ok to have the rears more diffused? (We're talking 7.1 here)

    Where to aim my surrounds?

Hi, I'm setting up a 7.1 system. I have my side surrounds about 7' high and a few inches back from the listener. Should I mount them flush against the wall so they aim at eachother or position them down toward the couch? The rears are on the back wall also 7' high flush with the wall...

    Newbie needs TV advise

Plasma is my choice for a future purchase. This is after reading endless complaints online about the $200 bulb in the DLP/LCD models burning out after one year or less. Too me, it just doesn't make sense to have to deal with that.

Will upconverting DVD player work w/ this TV?

Help a newbie out... Here's my (near future) TV: http://www.plasma.com/panasonicplasma/TH42PWD8UK.htm It's EDTV, not HDTV. Will an upconverting DVD player 'upconvert' on this TV, or should I stick with a standard progressive scan? Thanks! Tom:)

Toe-in vs. Matching Mains w/ Center...What would you do?

Hmmm... So maybe binging the mains closer together (say 8 ft. instead of 10 ft.) but keeping them facing forward would still provide a decent soundstage. Or I could find a way to mount these 16lb monsters (Primus 150's) on a swivel mount.

Toe-in vs. Matching Mains w/ Center...What would you do?

Why would some not sound better toed-in? (forgive the newbie) I can only find the Primus 150's at Circuit City, etc. Not the 140's...those would have to be bought online, so I can't compare the 140 with the C25 (center). Really, I'm looking for theoretical viewpoints since I'm pretty much...

Toe-in vs. Matching Mains w/ Center...What would you do?

Hi All, What do you think is more important for a 7.1 home theater setup?: 1. For your front main (L/R) speakers mid-driver size to match your center's mid driver 2. Be able to toe-in your main speakers Notes: -Choosing between Infinity Primus 150 (5 1/4' driver) and Infinity...

    Newbie speaker dilema...HELP!

Do you think it matters that the L and R speakers would have a smaller bass driver than the center (if I went with the 140's)? I'll probably get the Primus C25 (5.25" drivers) vs. the 4" rivers of the 140's.

    Newbie speaker dilema...HELP!

Hi All, Here's my problem: I just bought two front L and R speakers for a 7.1 home theater system: Infinity Primus 150. http://www.infinitysystems.com/homea...d=PRIMUS150BKS They will have to be mounted on the wall, and they have basic mounting brackets (will attach to two screws in...
