I didn't watch the movie with the brightness setting bumped up. I only bumped it up for the photo because the image captured by my camera with the display at reference level was much darker than what my set was actually displaying (the fault of the camera). The reason I cranked up the brightness...
Finally got a chance to watch this movie in Hi-Def last night and I really enjoyed it. This is my third viewing of the film (theater, regular DVD, and now Hi-Def) and I was very impressed with the presentation overall. I had no problem noticing the journal writing; it was very dark but still...
Glad to hear the Philips switcher is workin' out for ya. Did you have to buy more interconnects? What length are you using? I bet it looks like Dr. Octopus back there!
$49?! Does anyone remember the days when $199 was the magic number? I think $99 is a steal honestly. They need to keep some sort of premium over DVD. Sheesh!
Heck - even watching these new Looney Tunes sets I'm picking up on references that flew over my head as a child. I enjoy animation as an adult just as much as I did when I was a kid. Back on topic though - I agree, Shrek 3 was a big disappointment.
Here's a link to the Philips switcher I mentioned: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3904683 Walmart is the only seller I'm aware of. You might check Amazon sellers. I never go to Walmart either but I think I'll swing by and check. But wow that's gonnna be a lot of...
I finally got a chance to pick up this set and I'm really impressed! I've never seen the stooges look so good. I really hope Sony will see this series through to the end; I love seeing "Volume 1" in the title. My local Fry's only had one copy of the new set but tons of the older Stooge...
Paul - A lot of people are using a Philips component video switcher sold at Walmart for $20 (in stores only, not online). It's a 4-in/1-out design that includes 6 RCAs for each input (3 component ,2 l/r audio, 1 composite). It's a passive model that apparently doesn't color the sound in any way...
Someone at AVS attempted using this unit as a solution without any luck. I can't post the URL but just do a search. (Thread title: Anyone use Y-splitters to hook up multiple analog setups?) "OK here the short answer, it won't work in most cases. The component section of the switcher[pb...
I disagree. I think quality will continue to improve as software sales increase. More money and resources will be spent to create stellar transfers - just like with DVD. I think DVD mastering has improved overall as a result of mass consumer adoption.
I applaud Paramount for putting out Next in Hi-def day and date with the DVD release. I only wish the studios would start putting out all new-releases in Hi-def. However, if you're insisting that there's a lack of quality catalog titles in Hi-def, we're definitely in agreement.
Anyone else notice that Netflix doesn't seem to be carrying any of the new Anchor Bay Blu-ray discs? So far, every other high-def title I've wanted to rent has been available. I hope this isn't the beginning of a trend!
When decoding the audio this way, can you still hear secondary audio tracks such as interactive commentaries and PIP features like Warner's In-Move experience? The way I understand it, these audio signals have to be decoded inside the player, mixed into the regular soundtacks and then output as...
I'm really excited that Sony seems to finally be doing right by the stooges! I stopped buying regular DVDs over a year ago in favor of high definition but I'll definitely be making an exception in this case (and also the Looney Tunes sets). I truly hope that Sony'll stick with it and release the...
I noticed this player is now down to $699.99 at Circuit City if you factor in the $200 gift card that comes with purchase. The player includes multi-channel analog outputs so people without HDMI receivers (most) can still enjoy the new lossless codecs plus uncompressed audio on Blu-ray. If you...
