Pretty much agree with all of that.
I was very disappointed to learn several noirs have been added to the Archive. I stare up at my Film Noir Volume 3 set of ten discs and sigh at what might have been.
Actually, with the lack of catalogue titles available this year (or at least titles I would purchase), I have been able to get up to date with my DVD wishlist. I hope Criterion and Masters of Cinema continue with their magnificent classic efforts. I have just purchased a heap of MoC silents...
I love campy disaster films! I picked this set up about three years ago. The only one I really had trouble sitting through was the final film. Probably saw a little too much of George Kennedy for my liking!! :D
If someone had of told me at the beginning of the year that I would be purchasing more Sony/Columbia Classics than Warner Classics, I would have laughed at them. Well done to Sony. Can't wait for their releases. Thank you for opening up your vaults!

You don't have to package them as a Garfield set, just as a noir set.
I must admit I was fairly shocked when Warner said a second Esther Williams set was coming out.

Off topic a bit, I went to purchase the two-disc set of the Poseidon Adventure over the weekend, but it is no longer available. I went to Amazon to see if I could pick up a copy, and there was one Special Edition set up for sale for $137.00!!!
Of course we don't want to see classic titles stay in the vaults. On the other hand, dare I say it, in this economic climate, we also don't want to have to pay through the nose for the shipping of DVD-rs.
As I mentioned, I will support regular classic releases (as well as those from Fox...
