Where are Home Improvement & 8 Simple Rules?

I've noticed that Disney hasn't announced Season 8 of Home Improvement yet - which is odd as they usually release a season in November and thus announce it during August. I know they deviated a little and did a release in August, as well as the usual May, so that could be why I guess ... I'd...

    Roseanne Season 8--Edited

It is probably not fair to compare Roseanne to Family Guy, those DVDs will sell so much bette for sure.

    Sorting TV Shows by Creator

I never understand anything but alphabetical, it just makes sense as if I want to watch a certain DVD I will positevely always know the name and thus where to find it, with genre - I'd spend hours figuring out where to put things, and I don't think I have enough shows from any single creator to...

    Roseanne Season 8--Edited

I was quite disappointed to find scenes missing, changed music I can understand and accept (especially on a show like Roseanne), but to have scenes missing is quite a travesty. Starz put out a press release today, its at TVSOD, and they say it will be the same in Season 9 - I hope that means...

    "The Wonder Years" on DVD

I think Fox should perhaps focus on the important music that couldn't possibly be changed, ones so memorable or integral to the plot, and ignore songs which might be less important if needed.

Already bought it, but picked up an extra one for somebody else ... I really hope they keep these coming, it is a terriffic series and deserves a DVD release. $22 for a whole season of a wonderful drama, a great offer!

    "The Wonder Years" on DVD

Its grim I must say. A UK release date was posted last year and it never happened, they managed to release Ally McBeal here - the laws are different, easier, and they still couldn't get this show out ... there can't be much hope for the US.

    Copyright Law Differences

I wonder if somebody could explain the differences in copyright law between Europe and the US, or the US and the world, which makes it so much easier to release shows with original music here in the UK? Like Ally McBeal?

    Roseanne

I e-mailed the company releasing it, Magna Pacific, and was told the episodes are uncut - but as of yet, have not purchased it. At price it costs, with currency conversion, its a steal for both Brits and Americans - Australia must have damn low taxes.

Canadian made DVDs - yet another reason to AVOID THEM

Try living in Europe. DVD screw-ups are common, nearly ever Universal TV show I have has the Aspect Ratio incorrectly labeled. They produce boxes the wrong way around. We don't get Episode Titles on the DVD, because they couldn't possibly translate them into the 6 languages used in this...

    Universal UK - Jokers

I have bought a few Universal DVDs and am shocked at the levels of inaccruacy and general carelessness. Firstly, Monk was shot in widescreen from the start - yet Seasons 1-3 are not in Widescreen on your DVD, House Season 1 was also released in full screen 4:3 - when it was shot in widescreen...

    Roseanne

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roseann...)#DVD_Releases "It is worth noticing that the region 4 season one set released in Australia was produced by another company - Magna Pacific, and unlike the region 1 and 2 sets, it does actually feature non-syndicated, full length episodes.". The...

    Roseanne

As I understand it, it is Anchor Bay who are choosing not to release uncut episodes of Season 1 - I understand it wasn't their intent to release cut episodes, but since an Australian company has released uncut Season 1 - Anchor Bay must be able to do that aswell - so they're choosing not to?

    Cost to Produce Season Sets

I imagine the cost and reasons sets are discountinued is not monetary, but man hours - the number of staff/time needed to do the above clearance is probably best spent elsewhere. So while the release may not be in the red, there is no doubt if they can assign staff to a different release...

6 months with no announcement though ... they couldn't release it before March 07 at the earliest I think.

Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

TVShowsonDVD is reporting it has been delayed ... to an unknown time (most likely before June 07) while they clean up the video. I kinda hope they work on some better special features during the delay, maybe a commentary or 2 ... they'd certainly have time.

Finally! Sabrina, the Teenage Witch is coming in 2007

Great news, I wish they added some features - the show had a pretty interesting history for a sitcom, the cast/network changes. I dislike the first season with Jenny (or was it 2?) but still look forward to the show.

    Any insight on Ally McBeal?

You could also just play it on a computer which means you can easily change region coding either through legal hardware change or risky software (such as VideoLan).

    Any insight on Ally McBeal?

Wow, its actually more like not taking an umbrella on a regular day, which takes a turn for the worse and starts raining. A few years ago there was no reason to believe the show wouldn't stay in reruns or come to DVD. I guess people don't like being told they should be psychic.

Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

TVShowsonDVD.com just reported there will be no music substitutions - great news, especially considering the damage that would have been done if they couldn't negotiate for the songs used in the Wizzard of Oz plays or some other song truly important to the plot, like the song Kimberly song at...

Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

Save for the selections in The Wizzard of Oz and there was another song sung in that episode, I have not noticed anything else. I don't know wether the show did use songs and they have been replaced for these airings, the music cues used match the theme song so its my understanding - the show...

The beginning of the end for classic shows?

Studios won't release what won't make money, why on earth anybody resents a giant corporation for doing the capitialist thing and releasing profitable shows over non-profitable shows is beyond me. The fact most people would rather buy a DVD with the 24 episodes of Desperate Housewives that...

DVDs with Commercials that Cannot be Skipped

Its unlikely to change. You pay to see a movie in a Cinema and get commercials, you pay for Cable Stations and get extra commercials. I don't know how much money is "earnt" from advertising on DVDs, considering its self-promotion, but I imagine it could chop a little off the price.
