I e-mailed customer service about this yesterday and asked if they would offer replacements (of either the whole keepcase or just the picture insert itself) - they said no. I didn't think to ask if I could purchase them, though if that was an option I figure they might have mentioned it. They...
For years I've been hoping for Rapture (1965) starring Patricia Gozzi, Dean Stockwell and Melvyn Douglas. I assume Fox owns it - they showed it on Fox Movie Channel regularly years ago.
ah, this is so exciting! It'll be my first classic DVD purchase in a couple of years. Not only more Bob Hope, but Paulette Goddard! Thanks for sharing the news.
I have yet to buy anything from the Warner Archive, but I'm kinda excited about this if Universal is really planning to dig deep into the vaults. I'd love to see more Paulette Goddard films available - most of them haven't even seen the light of day on TV since the old old days of AMC.
Private Lives? Three Comrades? And The Patsy as a poll option for the next release? I may just cry. I know I will after the first bill comes in.
WHV, I love you.
I second the Esther Williams vol. 2 idea. Also, a not-public-domain set of Chaplin Keystones; Yolanda and the Thief (45); Rapture (65); and anything with Paulette Goddard or Robert Montgomery.
I haven't been this excited about DVD news in a while. I'm thrilled that the 30's version will be on there (haven't seen it but I love Taylor and Dunne) and that cover art is exquisite.
I don't stick to a schedule, but like OP I only watch 1 episode of any given show per week. One night I really got into an episode of Ally McBeal and I wanted to see where a particular story arc was going, so I watched a second episode the same night. Afterwards I felt guilty and a little bit...
This was the first more or less "grown up" show I ever watched regularly. It shipped out from Amazon yesterday, so I'll probably get it tomorrow, and I plan to dig in right away. I hope it holds up to my precious memories of it... :)
I was wondering about these sets the other day - I sure would love to see one for Paulette Goddard and Ray Milland. I can't gripe though if the problem is poor sales - I only bought the Lombard and Crosby sets.
Quantum Leap Seasons 2 & 3 (from the UK - music issues on the R1 discs) Power Rangers Seasons 1-4 (from Germany - no R1 release yet) Ally McBeal Seasons 1-4 (from the UK - no R1 release yet)
Best is a tie between House M.D. and Boston Legal. Was hounded by friends for months to watch them, and eventually bought both S1s when they hit the under-$20 mark. I sat myself down begrudgingly to watch them, not even wanting to like them, and now I'm absolutely hooked on both. Worst is...
I just checked out their website and I'm thrilled to see that they recently released some episodes of Pucca on DVD. Hopefully they'll release more. I'd like to see more Dick Cavett collections in the future too.
I regularly use blahdvd.com for my R2 DVDs and import CDs. They used to have free international shipping but they recently stopped that - still very reasonable though and great customer service.
I'm always on the lookout for more pre-codes, and I understand that Forbidden Hollywood is an ongoing series, so I'm happy about that. I'd especially like to see more Robert Montgomery: Private Lives Night Must Fall The Man in Possession No More Ladies When Ladies Meet (ideally a...
This is fantastic news...and of COURSE it comes just weeks after I finally broke down and bought the R2 Major and the Minor...oh well. I'll be buying all 4 of these. :D
This is great news - thanks for posting, OP. A Woman's Face is the only one of the bunch that's a must-have for me, but even if it is available separately I'll probably pick up the whole set, if only to give WB some money and encourage them to keep it going... :D
I'm totally in for Forbidden Hollywood 2. Also for the Lana Turner collection, depending on what's in it (I really want Johnny Eager). Thanks for sharing the news! :D
CDA planned a release for The Gold Rush as well a few years ago - the first wave included The Great Dictator and Modern Times. I read in Variety that CDA planned to release these editions of all of the mk2 Chaplins, but clearly that never materialized. I purchased Dictator and Modern Times...
I'm still hoping for a Ginger Rogers collection - or at least a single release of The Major and the Minor. I love that Paulette Goddard collection, Corey, though I might substitute The Lady Has Plans for The Crystal Ball. :D
Received A Bit of Fry & Laurie - The Complete Collection from DD yesterday. It was a nice surprise - didn't think it was supposed to be released until next week.
Just wanted to add a title to the list - Rapture (1965) starring Patricia Gozzi, Dean Stockwell and Melvyn Douglas. At least, I think it belongs on the list - I saw it first on FMC anyway. There was a post about a year ago on the IMDB that a DVD was in the works, but I haven't seen or heard...
I would really love to see a DVD of Rapture (1965) starring Patricia Gozzi, Dean Stockwell and Melvyn Douglas, directed by John Guillermin. I had never even heard of it before I saw it on Fox Movie Channel a few years ago and it just blew me away. Someone posted last July on IMDB that a DVD...
Chaplin's complete Essanay catalog has been released by Image Entertainment in 3 volumes. They look great. The Keystones are in various states of disrepair and can be found among dozens of cheapie discs...the BFI has been working on massive restorations and we should eventually get some DVD...
