Stereo or home theater receiver for music?

Hi, all, I need a receiver for purely 2 channel music (well, possibly not purely 2 channel as I might want a sub) for a rather small room. I won't have a TV so I don't know how much calibration with home theater receivers needs to be done on screen. Basically, I just want two channels (sub out...

Question for guys with an Onkyo XM capable receiver and the antenna

I thought I'd post it here because it dealt moreso with the Onkyo receiver itself and not the service, but I see your point. If I don't get anything in a few days I'll repost. Thanks

Question for guys with an Onkyo XM capable receiver and the antenna

Hey, guys, a few Qs for people with an XM capable Onkyo and the XM antenna (I have the 803) 1)Does the receiver display the song titles and channels on the TV? 2)Or is it only on the front of the receiver? 3)Does anyone prefer just a regular SkyFi receiver and hooking it up with stereo...

Is it bad to leave my sub 'always on'?

It has the option to be 'always on' or only on when there is suffecient bass being sent to it. What are the advantages of each and which is best for my sub? Also, should I turn my sub COMPLETELY off when I'm not using it such as overnight? Does this depend on whether it's 'always on' or only...

Guys...I'm not getting much bass out of my sub (SVS)

I was thinking it doesn't have a "large/small" setting but it does have a frequency setting for each speaker (I think it starts at 40 hz or so) which I have set to 80 hz for the mains. I was thinking this was sort of an advanced "large/small" setting that would push all bass below the specified...

Guys...I'm not getting much bass out of my sub (SVS)

I was confused with that setting because the mains had to be set to full band for that setting to be done. The sub is connected with a sub cable from the sub pre-out.

    Help With Onkyo TX-SR702

Brandon has the same problem I was asking over in the speaker and sub forum about a lack of bass from my SVS. I didn't see any way to set speakers to "small." There is no large/small option that I've seen either in the manual or in just messing around with the receiver menus. I have an Onkyo...

Guys...I'm not getting much bass out of my sub (SVS)

The forum won't let me link to the manual, but if you go to the Onkyo site --> Downloads --> Manuals --> Receivers --> TXSR803 and click the first one (the English one) it's the manual in PDF format. I've looked through the manual and the only thing I can see that is somewhat similar to the...

Guys...I'm not getting much bass out of my sub (SVS)

I don't actually see a large/small setting for the speakers on my receiver. The only setting I see is a crossover frequency which is set to 80 hz. The sub is indeed set to "yes" and I went to my DVD player and set it up Downmix: Dolby Surround, Digital Out: On, Dolby Digital: Dolby Digital. DTS...

Guys...I'm not getting much bass out of my sub (SVS)

I just ordered a 16-46pci as I mentioned in another thread a day or so ago. It was going well and I was getting nice bass and then I watched a few more movies today without really changing anything and am not really getting any bass if I'm more than a foot or so away from the sub. I have the...

Whoo! Axioms and SVS in and set up!

Wow, what an improvement. I had been using the in-TV speakers for a year or two but finally bought a system for it. I got the M8tis for mains and an SVS 16-46 PCi for a sub. No center or surrounds yet (that's coming in a few weeks). Wow! Parts of the soundtrack I didn't even know existed are...

What kind of speakers and power do I need for a room like this?

Total budget is pretty firm at $2,000 for everything (ie receiver and 2 speakers at least). If I was completely blown away it might get pushed up another $200 or so, but that's it. Full surround isn't really needed so I am thinking of not buying a center at first. If I feel a lack in low end...

What kind of speakers and power do I need for a room like this?

Do you think a tower speaker would be better for this room? I think my budget will restrict me to just towers and a center initially or bookshelfs + center + a sub. The system actually wouldn't be used for serious home theater movie watching because I don't frankly have the budget or room for...

What kind of speakers and power do I need for a room like this?

Hi, all! I am just getting into the home theater arena and am a little confused as to what I would need to fill my room. The room I'm using is actually a converted living room. It measures 19x17x10 LxWxH roughly. The TV is placed on one of the short walls. The wall to the right of the TV is...
