    Justice League & Batman Beyond

It is set for mid 2006 so I figure that could only mean near the release of Superman Returns. Its not offical but I would bet money on it since it makes perfect marketing sense.

Blu Ray delivers another blow to hd.

Pixar isn't really a studio on the level of the others. It has only 6 freaken movies. True every single one of them has been a sucessful classic but still just six movies.

Blu Ray delivers another blow to hd.

Until a Pixar title is announced for the format I am not bying this as an advantage.

Part of that was an episode of Futurama and it was quite successful.

    Futurama Direct to DVD movies

4 movies damn that rocks. Amazing no Simpsons movie has ever been made. Futurama is possibly the funniest animated series of all time. Its just so fun to watch. Every episode is filled with laughs.

It's official: BOTH Blu-ray and HD-DVD downrez component

Complaining ain't gonna help. The only way to end this discust is if it hits them in there pockets. Abandoning the format won't help either since they might think its for another reason. The only way to end it is for non-downconverting titles to sell high and for downconverting titles to sell low.

    Justice League & Batman Beyond

From what I hear the movie is set to be released on DVD in June day to date with Superman the Animated Series Volume 3 and Justice League Season 2. All part of Warner promoting Superman Returns in theaters. I am hoping it takes place between Legacy and Secret Origins and *spoiler* explains how...

It's official: BOTH Blu-ray and HD-DVD downrez component

Well if Fox is the only studio that will allow component high def and advanced codecs let me just say that they are the discs we should purchase. I plan on stocking up on Fox Blu-Rays even if I like the movie less then the idiot downconverting studios. If this list has any truth to it my...

Will this new release of the Abyss include Blu-Ray? Hope so.

    Blu Ray Slide Show

I prefer the new packaging. Its shorter and thinner and therefore easier to store. I kind of wonder how these cases will handle two disc sets even though two disc sets are probably going to be less needed with Blu-Ray.

    Blu Ray Slide Show

I guess we can but the orginal terminator for Blu-Ray. Thats the whole trilogy from three studios all being launch titles for the format. Excellent.

It's official: BOTH Blu-ray and HD-DVD downrez component

    Forgot to check your facts eh!! 1080p = 1920 x 1080 1080i = 1920 x 540 540p = 960 x 540 Do the math you will releize that 540p is actually 1/4 full Blu-Ray resolution. The lack of full 1080p over component isn't problem since all 1080p capable televisions have HDMI. However a good...

It's official: BOTH Blu-ray and HD-DVD downrez component

I only viewed D-theater once. It definutly looks superior to HDTV but the way I see it 540p has half the resolution of 1080i. Even with 1080i upconverting to help I still expect HDTV to have a slight edge over downconverted Blu-Ray. I expect 540p upconverted to 1080i to look similar to SD-DVD...

It's official: BOTH Blu-ray and HD-DVD downrez component

The holocost could have been worse but that doesn't make it a good thing does it. Any downconversion over components is stupid. It isn't a very good way of fighting piracy but its a great way to punish innocent law abiding citizens after they spent there hard earned money on HDMI free HDTVs. As...

Studio allegiance at work: a scenario

Format Wars before the market are good Format Wars after the market are bad It was good HD-DVD was there to push Blu-Ray into better features but today has lost its use. Similar to how it was good SD-CD and MMCD were combined to make a format that was best. Two competing technologies on the...

It's official: BOTH Blu-ray and HD-DVD downrez component

Edwin-S the quality drop between full 1080i dowconverted 540p will definutly be alot more then 10%. It will be 50% at the very least. Anyone who isn't blind of stupid will notice the drop. However 2/3 of digital televisions have digital inputs, nearly 1/2 of component digital televisions aren't...

"Not The Mama!" Dinosaurs Rumored For 2006!!

Gargoyles Season 2 Volume 1 squeezed 26 episodes plus extras on only 3 discs and the picture was quite good. Disney should be able to make this a four disc set easy. An extra disc would be a waste of money.

The Chronicles of Narnia - April 4th confirmed

While Narnia is coming to Blu-Ray this year don't expect it with the DVD. The first Blu-Ray player is set for late April and there will be no titles until there are players. Hopefully we will get Narnia in Blu-Ray come May.

It's official: BOTH Blu-ray and HD-DVD downrez component

On the brite side this could have been worse. We could have had full 480p downconversion on all players mandatory. Instead we are getting 540p downconverting and only on certain titles. My television can't handle anything higher then 540p anyway. However I still will be more stingy on...

Holy Grail of Hi-Def: Are universal players around the corner?

Your right buying two players is an insane waste of money. Just buy a Playstation 3 and all problems solved. Universal players are dangerous. They will only proloung the war and make Blu-Rays win harder. HD-DVD has to die and it has to die quick ever HD-DVD disc and player sold is hurting all...

Studio allegiance at work: a scenario

Lucas owns the rights to Star Wars completly and only he will decide when we see it in high def. He can also decide which format it is on. So even though Fox supports Blu-Ray he could decide HD-DVD if he wants. Though I would see no logical reason that he would choose to fight the studio for...

Buy a Playstation 3 this year then buy a Blu-Ray recorder a few years down the road.

Studio allegiance at work: a scenario

While a 30th anniversery version with more changes and extras is almost a sure thing but not in High Definition. Lucasfilm announced that none of there titles would be availible in High Definition until there was a sure winner. Unless HD-DVD is completely dead before the year is out it is likely...

Warner films on BD-9 Blu Ray?!

BD-9s are a bad idea for all movies over an hour in length. Not enough room plain and simple. These could serve a purpose for promotional discs, extras, and very short programs but if Warner plans on using these for any full length movie we should boycott them.

    Blu porn

Lists of Blu-ray & HD DVD Titles (Scheduled, Announced, Rumored, Wish List)

Yes thats why I am thankful that HD-DVD did excist since its possible that competition made Blu-Ray a better format. Today however HD-DVD has outlived its use and really really needs to die.

What would keep you from buying into the HD formats?

Internet connection to watch movies. Thats as pointless as an internet connection on toaster. Luckly it isn't going to happen. Blu-Ray connects online but doesn't require it to watch movies. So nothing excists to prevent me from buying the Playstation 3.

    A few words about....Blu-Ray

Just about every gamer I know (and all my friends are gamers) are also movie buffs. The gamers don't care about movies is just downright false. Blu-Ray internally built in every Playstation 3 will drive Blu-Ray to a quick victory.

Holy Grail of Hi-Def: Are universal players around the corner?

Well consumers who don't care about quality will probably just stick with DVD and not buy either format. So this arguement doesn't float. I think it really is going to come down to which can get High Defintion over components and which play on my Playstation 3.
