Off to San Diego next week. Are there any blu ray retailers in the area that are worth a visit. Looking for Warner Archive and 20th Century classic titles as well as a few of the mainstream releases.
The Great Escape and 633 Squadron . The King and I paired with Carousel. Two great evenings though I seem to remember 633 Squadron was a shortened version. You certainly got value for money in those days.
Many thanks for the replies. Never realised it was planned as a mini series. That explains a lot. Must admit that, in spite of its length, I did enjoy the movie. Pity though about those over the top beards! Were they really like that?
Watched the director's cut a couple of nights ago. At 4 hours plus it seemed a long stretch without an intermission; there is a fade out at about the 150 minute mark, was this intended intended to be for an intermission that never came?
Last night I started to watch the film with the...
Convalescing, so took the opportunity to view the dvd of Finian's Rainbow and wondering how much improved is the sound on the blu ray. Is it worth a double dip?
FWIW I think that the roadshow version was on the long side and I think an opportunity to give us a really great film was lost when the film was shortened. In my opinion it was the following scenes that should have cut as the added nothing to the story:
John Wayne's Republic speech.
The feather...

I would like to buy titles such as AMFAS but customs duty and post office clearing charges add so much that it is not worth while. MFL cost $25.00 in shipping and customs clearance. I normally wait until I visit the States and then buy a bunch of titles; with Twilight Time titles this presents...
When it costs at least $10.00 to go to a theater and see a load of adverts with a movie shown as an afterthought, I think the price of blu ray discs is very reasonable. For an "event" movie like MFL I consider $35.00 is reasonable (especially if two of you are going to view the movie) for...
Screening SOM we paid 50% on the first £X and then 90% on everything over. The trick was to try and control the advertising to keep it ticking along at just into the 90% bracket; we were happy and Fox were happy.
Re Song of Norway, my lasting memory of this film was coming from the theatre to...
Sony BDP-S5200 player. Has anyone experienced any sound sync problems with this player? With my player, after about 90 minutes into a film the sound gradually starts to lag behind the picture. After about two hours it is unwatchable and the player needs to be rested for a short while; it...
Visiting Vancouver in September; any recommendations as to the best stores to purchase blu ray discs. Looking for mainstream titles such as 42nd Street, 1776 amongst others.
Thanks.
