I bought a Marantz SR4001 last August and I am really liking it. (the wife hates the remote, but that is to be expected). It has hdmi switching, but it is lony hdmi v1.1. The question is: am I able to update to v1.2 or v1.3a?

I am not sure what player you are using. On the PS3, you need to change the audio output to linear PCM from bitstream to get the 5.1 PCM audio (uncompressed) I have the Marantz SR4001. Hope that helps.

I have the Marantz SR4001 AVR and I am in love with it. I can only imagine that the 7001 would trump mine in all aspects but price.

For a small room, I would suggest my first 5.1 setup. It is a DCM Cinema2 pacakge. I think they are still available at CC.

I would guess that the PS3 would follow suit with the failed PSP in that the movies are locked, but games are region free. This is just an educated guess.

There are various websites that say there are firmware updates for the DVL 909 and DVL-919. Something that might be investigated.
