Chris George had a legendary stunt double, Hal Needham, who was credited as stunt coordinator for the show, but doubled for George himself in this and many other projects. They had a very similar look, body type, etc. Reportedly George did also do some action scenes himself that he didn't have...
Ordered from Amazon this afternoon, looks like it was just added today:

They expect to have it in stock by the 13th.
Anybody had any quality issues with this yet? I had numerous audio dropouts in the third episode, haven't tried it in another player yet. Plus the third episode's wildly out of broadcast order -- according to several sources, it should be episode 18 of the first season. Also no episode listing...
Thanks for the heads-up on this. Tried to print it, and it only sent a blank page through the printer and now tells me I've reached my print limit (tried twice, second time same as the first). Printer definitely has ink, is working, and I think my computer met all the qualifications for...
BTW, nice pre-order price of $19.99 over at Amazon right now:

Really happy to read on Shout's website that the pilot movie "A Clear and Present Danger" is included. I haven't seen that in decades -- every time I come across that...
From your lips, er, fingers, to ... well, whatever. I hope it happens, and I'm cautiously optimistic about this "China Beach" set. If they were able to clear nearly 500 songs, that's gotta be a pretty hefty percentage of the tunes overall.
I get Antenna TV and have been recording Season 2, but I'm still excited about it. The broadcast is pretty good, but I'll be much happier to have a commercially produced set. Good to have a release date!
When I saw the "Site News" item about stalled Sony shows, my first thought was that I hoped the list included "Here Come the Brides." I've been watching/recording the second season from Antenna TV too, but I'd always rather have a legit, commercially-produced disc set. Fantastic news that it's...
Whoo-hoo, already picked up for next season! http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2011/01/10/abc-announces-early-pick-ups-for-next-season-499303/20110110abc02/ Nathan Fillion must be in shock. He's not used to series even making it to the end of ONE season, much less running for FOUR!
Yes, the schedule is on the website. Just click on the "Schedule" tab and it'll download a PDF of the schedule grid. "Brides" is on Sunday mornings. [ETA: Sorry, 1:00 PM Eastern, noon Central. I was reading the Pacific time column.] Pleasantly surprised to see "Circus Boy" on the schedule too --...
OMG, am I glad I read this thread! I had no idea "Here Come the Brides" was running in Chicago -- time to go home and set the DVR! I'd rather have commercially released discs, but since Sony doesn't seem inclined to oblige me....
Loved the "Firefly" shout-out towards the end. Subtle, but I fairly squeed when I heard Nathan speaking Chinese and the follow-up comment about learning it from a TV show....
They pretty much lost me with last year's Kitty's-cancer-clears-up-over-a-commercial-break storyline. I decided to give it one more try last night, hoping for a retooling over the summer, but I agree, it was pretty unbearable. Really a shame -- a lot of talent involved in this show; they deserve...
Nikki Finke is reporting that negotiations are underway to move the show to TNT -- not reruns, a 21st season: http://www.deadline.com/2010/05/toldja-law-order-heading-to-tnt/ So nothing firm set yet, but maybe not quite dead yet either.
Just a heads-up for anyone interested in checking out this series. It returns on Thursday with a two-hour installment, but there's a one-hour recap of the season so far scheduled for tonight. According to author Robert Sawyer, the series will have plenty of "entry points" for newbies who missed...
TV Shows on DVD has a new article up, with an earlier release date of 4/13, a reduced list price of $49.98, and a look at the cover art:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Alias-Smith-Jones-Seasons-2-and-3/13457
Sweet, but Timeless really needs to fix both the press release and the cover art --...
BTW, Robert Sawyer, who wrote the novel that "FlashForward" is based on and is very involved with the series, spoke at a convention I was at recently. He said that when the series picks up again next month, there'll be plenty of "entry points" for newbies to join in and catch up. It's been such...
I did get into a Target this morning and picked up "House" S5 for $17.99, "Glee" $24.99, and "The Office" S5 for $17. Also saw the season-one set of "Ally McBeal" for an unbelievable $14.99. Some great prices on TV on DVD at Target this week...!
I think I got lucky on "The Big Bang Theory" --...
BTW, Target has other titles on sale that aren't in the ad. I picked up "Lie to Me" Season 1 for $19.99 last night, along with "The Big Bang Theory" S2 (which is in the ad) for $17. Hoping to find a copy of "House" S5 when I pick up "Glee" tomorrow.
Thanks, as always, for the prices!
I just picked up the "Farscape" set at Best Buy. It rang up $99.99, but they were able to match the website price of $69.99. I already had a few of the Starburst releases, but I think it actually cost me less to buy the whole series than it would have to fill in what I was missing.
Some nice unadvertised specials at Target this week. I stopped in to pick up "Dexter" S3, advertised at $18.99, and picked up "Castle" S1 for $14.99 and "The Closer" S4 for $12.99.
I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only person who's doing that.... I frequently turn on the set at 8:00 Central on Friday nights and go "Wha-- Pre-empted again!? ... Oh, wait." I wonder how many episodes it's going to take for me to get in the habit of looking for it on CBS.
As I understand that list, "recent additions" on that pages just means it's a new sale price. I'm sure Amazon has been selling Happy Days ever since it was released. "Family Guy" volume 5 isn't a new release either, but the 40%-off sale price may be new.
TV Shows on DVD is the best place to go...
Well, a show of similar vintage that was released on DVD by Universal is "Alias Smith & Jones" (Glen Larson's next show after "Thief"), and the prints are gorgeous. But that was remastered for a run on the Westerns Channel a couple of years prior to its DVD release, so it's not really the same...
I've been recording them off-the-air too, and the quality's been fair-to-dreadful. Hope whoever's doing this has access to better materials. Good to hear that there's some buzz about it, in any event.
Well, there are, in that one episode....
River: Little soul, big world. Eat, sleep, and eat. Many souls.
Mal: Cattle on the ship three weeks, she don't go near 'em. Suddenly we're on Jianying, and she's got a driving need to commune with the beasts?
River: They weren't cows inside. They were...
