Personally speaking it's only Dudley Moore and John Gielgud's performances that make Arthur watchable. Take those performances out and all you have left is a tepid romcom. Nice to have it on BD as I never did get around to buying it on DVD. Probably should do it as one of the Double Feature...
Well if I was a shut in and never left my house then yeah driving the quarter mile to the Redbox inside Walmart or the one across the road in the HEB grocery store would be a huge bind. Fortunately I'm not a shut in. In fact I make frequent visits to both these stores multiple times in one week...
Quote "I get a laugh watching people stand in line, in the cold rain, just to rent or return a disc!
All for renting a disc for a buck! I must be to old to "get it".
You know every time I go to Redbox as I approach the machine all of a sudden it's starts pouring with rain and people from out...
Do we know yet whether the Kelly's Heroes/Where Eagles Dare set will be single disc or 2 discs like the Dirty Harry set? Amazon has it listed as a 2 disc set.
I agree with your assessment Mr Harris. Both films look really good. As someone who waited many years for both of these movies to show...
Just picked up my copy of Funny Farm/Spies Like Us from BB $14.99 + Tax. Just glancing through them they look pretty good. A little soft but that's how I remember them theatrically. Funny Farm shows some signs of compression artifacts but nothing too intrusive. For @ $8 per movie they're a nice...
I got the Presumed Innocent/Frantic disc a couple of days ago. I am more than happy with both presentations. Both prints are very clean and grain is intact on both and a good level of detail. Huge step up from the DVD versions. I hope when I get Funny Farm/Spies Like Us (as soon as Amazon has...
Apart from the fact that they both have the word "Man" in the title I can't see any connection or "intertextuality" between these two movies. Totally different in every respect.
If you were going to judge which decade I prefer purely by looking at my music collection then you would probably assume that it would go like this 1. 80's 2. 70's 3. 60's 4. 90's 5. 50's and you'd be right. The trouble with the 50's is I only really like the Rock 'n' Roll part of the...
Nothing mediocre about any of those IMO. I like Bone Collector too. I never understand why people get so bent out of shape when an old movie is remade for a younger modern audience. Now if they were going to gather every copy of the original and burn them in a huge bonfire on the night the...
I did a search and didn't come up with anything on this. The New Classics: Movies | EW 1000: Movies | Movies | The EW 1000 | Entertainment Weekly They've come up with a list a list of the 100 best movies of the last 25 years. So I'm looking to see where they put the best movie of the last...
Well put me firmly in the I want it in stereo camp. I don't care if the hit mono version had different vocals had instruments the stereo didn't or whatever. I just prefer stereo sound. Motown starting doing this too releasing albums in mono only or at least all the early stuff in mono. I can...
Actually the song that got me to buy The Untouchables album Wild Child was their great version of I'm Not You Stepping Stone and it's actually a live recording. I heard it played a lot on college radio back in the mid 80's. You can hear it here to verify whether it is or isn' the version you...
Not a mention of the WB split in there. Next step .... give them away. I see Toshiba execs standing in Wal-Mart "please have a free HD DVD player, please take one"
To quote Dana Carvey quoting George WH Bush "not gonna happen" HDM is gonna do fine. Besides Sony isn't the only Co producing BD players. If you feel so strongly that it will fail care to put some money on it?
Well the VOD we've had for the last few years killed off DVD ........... not. and why did say "Blu ray obsolete already" and not HDM obsolete already? Is HD DVD gonna survive this onslaught they are predicting?
That doesn't make any sense either. Are you saying there are more people wanting HD players than there are players? not from what I've seen. Of course player prices are going to come down as more people buy them. It's extremely unlikely demand is ever going to exceed supply as far as HD players...
Adoption rates? what rate is that? is there some figure that we can use so in 6 months we can say "oh the adoption rate didn't reach X so we might as well go back to the format war" It's going to take time for HDM to bleed into the mass market as it did for SD DVD no matter which side wins...
Judging by what you just said you don't sound like a person who meets the requirements of an early adopter. You should definitely sit this whole thing out until an overall winner is in place and they have perfected their hardware. SD DVD was imperfect for a couple of years. How many remember all...
