After seeing hd-dvd on something bigger than 37"(the first time I saw it it hardly made a difference) versus what I saw last week with a 65" display, I can say that it's hard for me to hold back. The only problem, my town doesn't carry hd-dvd or blu-ray ANYWHERE within 2 hours. I think that's a...
As a note, don't put speakers up in the corner. with the system, you'll get the best sound you can get from that system. The speakers in the TV can act as a center, they should be too off-camber with the fronts. The fronts need to be around 2 feet from the sides of the TV. For the settings...
yes, as long as you can keep ambient light out and have a perfectly flat screen, you basically have a 100+" screen. Right now I have a ae900 with light control and it's just as good better than what the movie theater has. as for quality on bigger screens, it mainly depends if the proector is...
It will probably have to be small bookshelves with stands decoupling them to the carpet with some spike system. The main thing neighbors here is the floor resonating due to the speakers. The small speakers will do, but since a sub isn't very appropriate in a condo, you want deeper extension than...
Get a parkland plastics board from Home Depot for a screen. It's 4 by 8 ( capable of 98" screen) and best of all, only 20 bucks. I have one and like it better than some 900 dollar screens I've seen. I'd get a panasonic AE900(around 1400 after rebate) for the projector and here is a URL to a good...
I'd also look at the Vifa XG18 for the midrange. John Krutke built a 2.5 TMM with the XT and XG mentioned, but said the lower-end distortion wasn't up to par, but the midrange and high end were some of the best he's ever heard. For a nice comparison test, here's a page with a bunch of 6.5-7 inch...
I'd prefer the oppo dv971, denon 1910/1920, or a bravo D1 or D2, but if you have one you're selling, give me the make and model and I'll PM you back if I'm interested or not. My maximum amount is $200 plus shipping. Also, if it's a samsung you're selling, don't PM me. The answer is no.
If you don't live in a supersized town(like me) the reception is really bad with the headphone antenna. It doesn't even work in the car. It's still good in bigger towns(tested in St. Louis, springfield, peoria, st. paul, minneapolis). As for reception in home with the more powerful antenna, I...
I thought I was done last year August with a big screen. Now I've got a better big screen and still need to paint the room, acoustic treatments, build the second sub, build the final audio rack, build a screen, it never ends.
I got a str-de995 last year because I got a good deal ($250 no tax) and think it's pretty decent, but my friend recently ordered that one dg with the built-in xm and it's horrible. The xm reception is terrible with it, but not with my sister's portable xm thing. The audio on this sounds like...
what's the price you want? I got one for 1400 including the 400 dollar rebate. And also, the blockbuster thing goes until may 31st, but does it have an expiration date? Also, if I placed the order in April and it's backordered to the point where it's june, can I still use the rebate?
I have them and find the bass to be somewhat muddy stock (might be my room), but better than anything you'll get retail for 150 bucks a pair. The suggestions on the back of the instruction guide helped quite a bit.(different caps) They don't sound too good once they get into the 95 dB+ range...
I have 2 lane tan leather recliners. Not exactly "theatre" recliners, but they feel 5 times better than theatre recliners. I only paid 500 for 2 used, but they were 700 new(but mine were under a year old, so practically new)
Geoff, is it guarenteed that the 15 inch models will be coming? And I'm going to recommend the NHT 1259. Go to madisound and search for NHT. You'll get the results and go to the 12 inch drivers. I know someone that put them in their car and said that it performed incredibly well. It's slightly...
You're right on the by-pass capacitor. By-pass caps have a high ESR(equivalent series resistance). Paralleling them parallels the undesired resistance and inductance, reducing resistance and inductance a lot. I personally think it would be worth it in a bi-amp system.
There is a difference in speaker wire grade, and I think Radioshack is overpriced for their quality of wire. Got to www.partsexpress.com and search for sound kind 12 gauge. That is very nice wire, especially for the price.
