I'm currently more partial to double slim cases, but I'd prefer that any series I collect stick with one design for the entire run (with a few exceptions, like Grey's Anatomy: Season One and The Office: Season One, which were significantly smaller than their follow-up seasons).
It's been a while since I've updated, so this is from May through this week:
Arrested Development: Season Three
Boston Legal: Season One
The Closer: The Complete First Season
Commander In Chief: Part One
Commander In Chief: Part Two
Desperate Housewives: The Complete Second Season...
I suggest watching all five seasons. While most of season three, the majority of season four, and the first part of season five are weaker than the phenomenally strong first two seasons, they're still better than most of what aired on television during their respective seasons.
It depends on the show. For every set, I watch in marathon form (by disc or by complete set). Depending on the show, I'll watch the bonus features. The only series I have where I've listened to all the commentaries are Friends and Batman: The Animated Series. Otherwise, I generally skip over the...
It's a series from Dick Wolf that includes Stephanie March reprising her SVU role as Alexandra Cabot. It exists in the same fictional universe, but the structure is more like a legal version of Grey's Anatomy.
I generally go by price, and only go for bonus discs if there's something really worth choosing that store for my purchase. The only real example I can think of is Best Buy's deal with Boston Legal, which contained the final four episodes of The Practice that dealt with setting up Boston Legal...
Actually, Nicholson is playing a new character on CI - she'll be replacing Annabella Sciorra as Chris Noth's partner. Also, Milena Govich will be joining Law & Order this fall as Jesse L. Martin's new partner (Martin will be bumped up to first credit).
Based on the disc count for the complete series, it sounds like the first three seasons will be put on single-sided discs like the remaining four seasons, which adds up to seven discs for the first three seasons (six for the episodes, one for the bonus features), and six for the final four seasons.
I still own the first four seasons, but the first three were gifts (purchased on the day of release, but still...), so the fourth is the only one I purchased. Depending on what comes with the Rambaldi collection, I might replace my set.
Thanks for the information! I usually don't go to Best Buy, but this (like the Boston Legal deal with a bonus disc of The Practice) sounds too good to pass up.
I don't think I'll be able to find a specific article for this one, but I do believe Scheuring stated around the time the show was renewed for a second season that he didn't see the show lasting more than two to three years because, despite the suspension of reality required for the show's plot...
The creator of Prison Break has said the show is set up to last two, possibly three years. I think you're confusing this with Lost, which J.J. Abrams has said was set up with the first five years planned.
I decided to start watching all six seasons of The West Wing on DVD, starting with the first season. Roughly halfway into the second episode on Disc 1, though, the DVD froze up. I tried the disc in several DVD players, and it gets a little bit farther in some DVD players, but the middle of the...
The only thing that really annoys me is that it's called "The Complete Second Season" when the first season set was just "Season One." I don't even mind the "Uncut" tag.
27 episodes on six discs isn't that strange. It puts 4 episodes on three discs and 5 episodes on three discs. Remember, the first season had 4 episodes on one disc and 5 episodes on one disc, and that set was fine.
Yes, Davis won the Golden Globe this year for CiC. While the ratings have bombed in more recent airings, it still is second only to Boston Legal as having the largest upscale viewership on the network, so that alone should keep it somewhat safer for a second season.
