"I'm Dickens, He's Fenster" reportedly coming

You want facts? How about the word of the producer and owner of the series? Is that suficient? How about that I've seen copies of the contracts? You really should understand that not everyone on here is a typical know-nothing fan and that some of us are actually involved in the industry. It's...

    Buffalo Bill!

So, can anyone tell me if there are any other edits, cuts or music issues with any episodes other than Hit the Road? I just pulled out my network masters and I want to know if there are any other episodes I need to transfer.

One Day At A Time - April 24!!!

No offense to fans of this show, what few there are here, but this was a perfect example of a very mediocre show at best that benefitted from always managing to be in cushy time slots, buffeted by truly popular series.

    Ziv's "Troubleshooters"

The Ziv library is controlled by MGM, now distributed by Fox. Since they will never have an interest in releasing any of the Ziv library, perhaps some enterprising independent company can make a deal with them. Among the classic Ziv series: Sea Hunt Highway Patrol Ripcord The Everglades...

Wanted: Dead or Alive Season 2

What I would like to know is if they will use the same PAL transfers from Canal Plus that were on the season 1 set (which accounts for the shorter running times) or if they will be able to source the episodes from NTSC masters. These obviously exist as the show ran on Encore in pristine...

"I'm Dickens, He's Fenster" reportedly coming

Uh, maybe because they don't have any rights or ownership of the show? Yeah, little thing like the fact that they don't own it and are just being assholes about it because they can. Other than that, nothing. Maybe you need to have a little more information next time before you post a comment on...

LAND OF THE GIANTS! - Where Are You?

Just amazing to me that LIS, by far the most popular of the 4 shows, they just threw out there from 20 year old 1-inch tapes while they are remastering a doing a great job on the other 3 series. Really doesn't make sense to treat your most viable property like crap and spend all of the time and...

Hawaii Five-O - Any Interest Out There?

I think the reason might be that TV Land Canada is actually good as compared to the US one. In addition, they have far less commercial content in Canada so if the network there is provided with an uncut version of a show, that is how it's aired. Those of us who trade have known for years that...

Wanted: Dead or Alive Season 2

Stoney Burke is under the ownership of MGM, which is now being distributed by the great Fox, who everyone here loves so much. Thus far, Fox has released exactly ZERO shows that are in black and white. Draw your own conclusions as to the chances of this one making it out. It's not a big concern...

"I'm Dickens, He's Fenster" reportedly coming

It has nothing to do with "protecting rights" but it is more about typical corporate greed, which ABC/Disney/ESPN is all about. They don't care one iota if the show comes out or not so they have nothing to lose by trying to get a piece of the pie, rightfully or not.

    TV Guide Acquires TVShowsonDVD.com

That was when I cancelled my 35+ year TV Guide subscription, when they started putting current theatrical movies on their cover. Kind of like subscribing to a stamp collecting publication that puts coins or baseball cards on the cover.

"I'm Dickens, He's Fenster" reportedly coming

I hope you do enjoy it. The deal for the release fell through due to ABC. Although all paperwork shows otherwise, they are claiming to have a percentage of the rights and are demanding to be compensated, thereby making a release financially not viable. So unless something drastic happens to...

    TV Guide Acquires TVShowsonDVD.com

I don't need information on series length, casts, etc. That stuff is all readily available in a half dozen television encyclopedias as well as on line at classic tv archive and epguides. You can pick up Total Television or Complete Directory to Prime Time Shows and find all of that out in 30...

    TV Guide Acquires TVShowsonDVD.com

Hopefully Gord and Dave have something in writing which guarantees their continued involvement for a long time to come. If it's just "the word" of TV Guide, we know how much that's worth. Ask Ted Turner how much input he has these days. Or the guy who founded ESPN that got bought out for...

    TV Guide Acquires TVShowsonDVD.com

Well, maybe it will be good for the owners financially but as for the integrity of the site . . . We all saw what happened when TV Tome got bought. It is now a shell of it's former self. And the current owners of TV Guide took an established, legendary publication and drove it into the ground...

Some of us discard the packaging, therefore it is of zero importance.

    Universal/NBC has a lousy infrastructure

A collector is someone who collects TV shows. I can name you dozens of shows that I think are very good which I only got exposure to through "collecting". That is shows that have never aired in my city during my viewing experience, nor on any cable network I received. But as a collector, I've...

    Universal/NBC has a lousy infrastructure

I'm so glad you're not generalizing at all. And I really don't hear too many people saying that The Simpsons sucks, which is a show that started in the 80s by the way. Are you a collector? If not, then I'm sure you've never even seen most of the great shows from the early sixties because with...

    Universal/NBC has a lousy infrastructure

Part of his contract for Rockford Files gave him a percentage of the show's profits. Even after selling the series in syndication many times all over the world and reaping hundreds of millions of dollars, Universal's accountants had the books saying the show was still in the red and not turning...

    Universal/NBC has a lousy infrastructure

Not really that many actually. And I don't know where you get this generalization. Everyone that I know who is into vintage television also samples most new shows, watching at least an episode or two. Just because we don't like a lot of these modern "classics" like Firefly, doesn't mean we don't...

At about $24 US dollars I'll probably pick up the season 1 set as that is the only season worth a damn IMO. Thanks for the heads up.

You must love your bad T&A shows. I'd say you've got a better shot at seeing The American Girls.

My top 5 most-wanted DVD releases (2007 edition)

I agree with you on numbers 1 to 4 but I'll skip #5. I'm sorry but that show is boring. So, in keeping with the theme of the types of shows you list, I'll add a replacement for your number 5, although I'm really not sure if it exists as it was the last live regularly scheduled series: Great...

"The Fugitive" (1963): Season 1; Volume 1 Rumored To Be In The Works!

Okay, it is very easy to master a show with the following method: For those of us who are purists and would like to see the show as it originally aired, put in a play all feature. For those people who don't enjoy it, have a play without additions feature. I thought it was great when...

Why we might get "The Equalizer" on dvd...A movie is coming....

That sounds encouraging. Other than the theme I don't really think there should be too much in the way of music issues. I'm going to suspend my transferring of my CBS VHS masters, pending further word.

    The Man From UNCLE??

Well as evidenced by them being in no hurry to do anything with 77 Sunset Strip and the rest of their 50s classics which are now 50 years old. The window of opportunity, if there even is one for those shows anymore, will be closing even sooner.

    The Man From UNCLE??

So, speaking of 60s classics, is there any new word or is it still stuck in rights limbo?
