Well, well, well... (I know it's referencing the blu-ray but thought it more appropriate here)

Extras consist of a making of and "selected scenes" from the tv version. So pretty lacklustre but better than nothing. Unless the making of is...
The lack of anything resembling behind the scenes/making of content on this dvd has nothing to do with Paramount and everything to do with Paul Thomas Anderson.
I've got the same problem on the 8-film disc. The Follow wont play and Star plays but continually stalls. Can't extract the vob (01-4) either. Can't find the original season 1 disc atm but will dig it up - hopefully that one's ok...
I've got both complete discs: the original/first pressing jewel case release which included The Follow (which was subsequently removed) and the second season keep-case release which included all films. I've not looked at them recently but will check tonight and report back.
Thank you for replying Mr Prior. A three-disc set? Figures. Over 50 minutes of completed material not included?! What a waste. Darcy, I assume the video you are referring to was the FCP promo that showed Fincher and Angus Wall cutting Zodiac. This was online several months before the film's...
Very, very good point Jonathon - thanks for posting. I was thinking about querying this in one of the other threads but figured it would get lost. I too was particularly looking forward to the digital workflow featurette and was disappointed to find it was missing, especially considering the...
As already mentioned, Criterion's Traffic disc has an excellent editing featurette consisting of a feed from an Avid timeline of one scene and Stephen Mirrione going over the editing process. There's also a good one on The Fast and the Furious disc with Rob Cohen and Peter Honess sitting at an...
Thanks for the review Kevin. If anyone in UK/R2 land is interested it appears, going by the press release, that Universal has dropped the director's commentary from the R2 disc. So that'll be the R1 ordered then.
To 'follow on' from the previous post... Does anyone know if the currently available version from MGM has been downgraded or is it a separate release to the (deleted?) SE? The version I ordered from Amazon a couple of weeks back (live in the UK) has arrived and just has the two commentaries...
Usually available from select Far East online retailers and relatively cheap so no need to pay extortion-bay prices. One has to laugh at what the new disc goes for when CES is on ($50-$100) when it can be bought legitimately (along with some of the older ones) for a fraction of that...
Thank you for posting Mr Prior! I hope you and Fincher will be replicating the amount of content in the Panic Room SE... Whilst I assume there'll either be a longer cut or plenty of deleted scenes and no doubt in-depth detail on the factual events, please don't forget the film-making process...
Indeedy - got to have the floaty heads to sell 'product'. Tossers. Hopefully this will be some bare bones rubbish. The SE will come later - Fincher wouldn't let us down...
Never say never and I would like to see an extended cut with extras but... didn't Warners say in the last chat that they had "no plans" to revisit this title?
The current issue of DVD Review, a UK magazine has a good interview with Sir Ridley to coincide with the R2 release of the Kingdom of Heaven director's cut. When asked about whether he would be revisiting any of his earlier works he thought Legend could be looked at again (the implication...
You can usually rely on British television to run authentic period studio logos (though I don't actually understand why; perhaps their beta masters hold up really well...?). Was well miffed having watched Mr Majestyk on BBC1 several months back with original UA logo as the score played over it...
Fat chance. Never happen. Which is a great pity. I know one shouldn't hate but reading about the issues that are cropping up (ha ha ha) it does beg the question: why can't these idiots get it right?
Totally agree. We've got the MPI Rathbone Holmes' discs, MGM have good editions of the Cushing Hound and Wilder's Private Life (albeit with godawful artwork) and Anchor Bay have done a fine disc of Murder by Decree. C'mon Universal (and no floaty heads either)!!
The postproduction and a/v club sections of this SE have absolutely turned this into a must buy. I hope they're not 5 min bits of fluff and there's a good amount of input from Walter Murch.
Post number 6 in this thread over at dvd maniacs might shed some light... http://www.dvdmaniacs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=15634 Shame. Not exactly a good film but could have been. Nice Jerry Goldsmith score though; I'd buy the dvd from the angle of getting an extended music video for the...
Ok, so where do I vote for dvd(s) of the year? Just received Inferno and Poseidon from Amazon today. It didn't actually register with me looking at the above pics that the dvd cases themselves have the full complete poster art. Nice one!! I got both sets of lobby cards and the repro program...
The Airport Terminal Pack came out on R2 a couple of weeks ago and the misframing/stretching issue on Airport 1975 has been corrected. Compared to the grabs above it looks like slightly different framing again with a little less picture information at the top of the image (the top border is just...
The chances of an extended cut appearing seem to be at a stalemate at the moment. Sarah Green did indeed state that New Line had greenlit the release of a longer cut on dvd for autumn but as of last week New Line had "no plans" to release an extended edition. The New Line response comes from a...
