Hi. I haven't been here in a long, long time. With help from folks here, I had selected what I thought would be my last home theater toys. Since then, we've moved and even then, I made it work. But we're rearranging our living room, and it looks like I may be getting an opportunity to get some...
I'm trying to mount my Paradigm Titans to my entertainment center, and I'm having a heck of a time findng what my situation calls for. Here's my problem: 1. The entertainment center is not wide enough to accomodate the Titans (v. 4)and the cc-170 and the 37" plasma TV. 2. The right speaker...
I just got my Titans and I'm trying to set them up optimally, but also safely, considering that i have a 1 year-old who's just learning to run. I had been apparently overly optimistic that the titans would fit on our entertainment center. I was very wrong. So, as I see it, I have 2 options...
Thanks for all the info everyone! I've still got a lot of auditioning to do, but I am feeling like this is a reasonable way to build my HT without breaking the bank. Are there some speaker models that should be avoided used that I, as a newbie to HT, might not know about but might be common...
I'm thinking of upgrading speakers at some point to some decent bookshelves, like the Paradigm Titans, and saw some on ebay for $80 for immediate purchase. Seems like a great deal, but then I started wondering if used speakers are a wise choice. If I'm looking to build a 5.1 system and I buy one...
Got a sweet deal with that coupon! Got a Yamaha that listed at $249 on clearance (regularly $269) for $175, open box. Left me money to get a sub. Thanks for your help everyone!
Thanks Steve! Great info, and I feel much more secure in my decision to start this slow upgrade. I hope that I will not be in this situation long. Hopefully new speakers and a powered sub before in less than a year.
Thanks, Michael. I'm almost embarassed to respond! I'm slowly upgrading from a panasonic HTIB (SCHT67) whose power supply failed (bought it for $50 from a friend). I was thinking of cannibalizing the speakers from that until I can afford newer ones. My wife and I just had a baby, so...
I know it's not sexy, but I'm on a budget!:frowning: I'm considering brands like Sony, Pioneer, Onkyo, JVC, Panasonic, and Kenwood. Right now I'm leaning toward Sony and Pioneer as they are 6.1 compatible in that price range and seem like a better investment in the long term. Any thoughts?
This may be addressed elsewhere, but being a noob, I couldn't seem to find an answer that satisfied me. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum (can't decide if it's a speaker or a receiver issue!) My Panasonic HTIB (SC-HT67) has a power supply problem, and since I bought it from a friend friend...
