Hello, I've recently upgraded my old sub and got a Paradigm Studio Sub 12. The manual indicates that it is recommended that a dedicated circuit is used for any subwoofer that uses over 1200 watts in power consumption. The sub 12 is 1700 watts rms and I feel as if the sub is lacking and...
Try these for some earthquake inducing deep synth bass:
KMFDM - Stray Bullet (Symbols Album)
Stabbing Westward - Falls Apart (at about 1:50 or so into the song or so/Wither Blister Burn + Peel Album)
Nine Inch Nails - Discipline (The Slip Album)
I believe the only downfall is for people like me with older receivers that don't have HDMI and have to settle for the lossy soundtracks by using optical connections.
1. 1080p (1080i is unacceptable) 2. Lossless audio on all releases 3. 7.1 audio on new releases (it's understandable if catalog releases are 5.1/6.1 but if they can give the extra effort to make a 7.1 mix then all the better) 4. Extras on a 2nd disc if they are not HD extras 5. Most up to...
Yeah and the worst part is, not only are the charging us for going over bandwidth limits but they are still limiting our speeds with traffic shapping software.
Given the fact that they have already set release dates for a few re-issued titles such as Shrek The Third and Beowulf, I am sure they are planning to release the rest at some point. And looks like all the re-issues so far are getting Dolby TrueHD.
According to Blu-ray.com - Blu-ray Movies, Players, Recorders, Media and Software both S1 and S2 are going to be DTS HD-MA. Are we to follow the press release...or Blu-ray.com - Blu-ray Movies, Players, Recorders, Media and Software
Although this wasn't originally released on HD DVD, Gladiator would be quite impressive when it is eventually released on BD. Of those that were originally on HD DVD, Transformers and Heroes S1 are my top picks.
If DNR can be used in some sort of moderation and preserve detail while getting rid of only a bit of film grain instead of what is being done now which is getting rid of detail and grain altogether....then that would be acceptable. If they can't learn how to use DNR moderately then they...
Battlefield earth....without a doubt the worst movie ever. I can sit through even the most terribly acted and cheesiest movies.....but I had to stop watching BE.....I felt like I was being punished in some form while watching this movie.
From what I understand "Full Range" speakers are determined by their frequency range, not their size. A set of tower speakers that has a frequency range of 45Hz-20KHz is not full range. Bookshelf speakers that can produce thunderous bass like that of a subwoofer in the 20Hz region and also is...
As far as hardware goes, when can we expect profile 2.0 compliant hardware to hit the market? Excluding the PS3 of course. I see that most of the questions on here have been about movies and such so I don't know if you deal with hardware and software or just software exclusively. Any info would...
For your price range I would suggest a Sunfire True Subwoofer Signature EQ. At 2700 watts it's a monster sub for sure. I had the chance to audition one while visiting my sister in Chicago and let me tell ya.....not only do you feel every note in your lungs, the people in the upstairs loft of the...
With HD movie discs getting a pretty strong base, what if music were to be released on Blu-ray disc with PCM lossless sound in 5.1 or even 7.1 surround as well as DolbyTrueHD or DTS HD Master audio tracks? DVD-Audio and SACD failed because of format wars but if they stick with one format and...
No, if you have a receiver with 7.1 sound output all dvd's are 5.1 and some are 6.1 but not many. Either 5.1 or 6.1 sound will be output from the digital optical or coax connections on the dvd player, the extra channels will be extended from 5.1 to 7.1 and this process is done in the receiver...
Unless the picture quality is enough to make me want to sell someone else's grandma (come on I can't sell my own, I love my grammy hehe), then I would only double dip if they include a 7.1 audio track as opposed to a 5.1 track.
I have an LG Superblu BH-100 dual format player. Odd to see that I'm the only one that responded to your post that has dual format, although I did notice some others that had Toshiba HD DVD players. Having one player that can do it all is great.
I know every one is entitled to their opinion and I feel weird going against the grain here...but I actually like NR as long as it only removes the grain and doesn't affect any other aspect of the picture. If the NR makes the picture softer or has any other similar effect on it then I totally...
I think if Warner Bros are eventually going to re-release HD DVD titles on Blu-Ray then they should allow owners of the HD DVD's to show up with proof of purchase UPC's or something and get a copy of their HD DVD's on Blu-Ray. No one likes the double dips.
I agree whole-heartedly with all the above, especially pricing. If I am able to buy Pan's Labyrinth on either HD format for 26.99$ brand new then other HD discs should be around the same price range give or take a few dollars, but with some discs being 40+$ that's almost a 20$ price...
HD panels are 16x9 so the only aspect ratio that will take the whole screen is 1.85:1. Most HD DVD/Blu-Ray discs are 2.39:1 or 2.40:1 so yes they are a little bit wider and yes you will have black bars on the top and bottom but at least you are experiencing the film as it was intended to be...
Having a dual format player will be useful even though HD DVD becomes a dead format....so when I see movies that I want at a low enough price like some of those HD DVD/DVD combo discs that cost like 40$ I will definitely invest in those.
