Colin, I'm still subscribed and get notification. TxLC is good for me. There is also a small BBQ place on 183 @ Ohlen called Mann's. Family owned and really good ...my fave. We often take foreign dignitaries (read out-of-towners) there for lunch and it always gets rave reviews. Wherever...
I'm up for the 29th. I'll need directions to Colin's place. My daughter has been there for a movie night with my brother a couple years back, but I've not been there.
That post was from 05 January 2006. I might have seen it back then, but I've slept since then. ;)
Why do you ask about a post nearly a year old? Just curious.
Greg, I just heard out about this through the grapevine today. (closest thing to a dancing raisin I could find). You shoulda linked or posted this on one of the other already established Austin HTF threads. I'll be there. And I'll bring my cue. I haven't been able to play on my table for...
[SIZE=2]I'm interested. But I also have a great need for a new receiver, and since I owe Uncle Sam a payment here in a couple weeks, I'll have yet another draw on available funds.
If I can swing the cash for the HTPC, I'll do it. Otherwise, I'll participate for educational purposes...
Jonathan and Jenn, Thanks for hosting the meet Saturday. I was glad to get a chance to compare my AE700 with the AE900. The 900 looks good, but the difference is not enough to get me to cough up the ~$500 upgrade cost.
Greg, We've never met, but it appears you were with the Austin HTF group...
The consensus filter of choice for the AE700 in the forums is the 77mm KR-6 81EF Color Conversion Glass Filter. The AE900 is physically almost identical to the AE700, so the same filter (size and type) may be offer similar results.
I'd be up for a meet also! And like Leroy, I will be out of pocket for several weeks.
Chad,
Sadly, the arcade is on the back burner for a little while. :frowning: I am helping my dad with some remodeling.
I will post a few pix of the arcade in its semi-complete state when I get a chance.
I saw Chad's Starcade at the beginning of January, At that time, he wasn't as far along (nothing electrical functioning), but having seen it in person, I can testify...
This Starcade is amazing COOL!
Chad's differs from the other 9 arcades built in many ways.
Structural:
The lower...
The 2006 Rose Bowl games was, bar none, absolutely the most exciting, heart pounding, voice stretching, rootin' tootin' fun sporting event I have experienced, live or broadcast, ever! What a roller coaster ride!
I never made any bones that I'm a homer when it comes to college football, and I'm...
It boggles my mind the attention ESPN is giving USC to the virtual exclusion of Texas.
I have listened to several ESPN radio podcasts, none of them giving the least bit of consideration that the Horns could possibly have a chance against the Trojans. Listening to these national radio...
I did a little comparison of my own with similar conclusions... on paper.
vs.
I agree that the spread is probably big game experience related. Also, I would venture that the coach may factor in the equation for the spread pretty heavily and Pete Caroll has to be considered to have better...
The KeyWiz Shazam! feature is, IMHO, definitely worth considering. This is not really a show stopper since everyone can choose this interface for their individual machine. I took a look at the I-PAC (USB or PS/2) and it has a similar function. I couldn't determine if the alternate key mapping is...
I think the remaining items/issues regarding the MAME build should be left for direct communication on the next build day, but continue making comments and suggestions between now and that time for consideration. We are not likely to come to decision on these things in this forum. That being...
Actually, we need to use the same joystick and trackball in order to maintain panel design uniformity. Buttons all use the same hole size and and the emulator is off site relative to the control panel. I don't know the brands as I have not contacted Ultimarc or Dream Arcades. I only know what...
[SIZE=2]OK Guys. Decision time for the control panel. We have already decided in previous conversations that we will have the following items on the panel:
2 joysticks
1 trackball
12 pushbuttons (6/player)
player 1 & 2 pushbuttons
credit 1 & 2 pushbuttons
T-molding is also required...
A BBQ/horror movie evening? I just had a flash of semi-charred flesh being torn from bones with chilling sounds all around.
So when that's done and the ribs 'n' chicken are gone, what are the ideas for the movie? ;)
I'm not particularly fond of the horror genre, nor am I a poker palyer, but...
Dave,
It went very well. :emoji_thumbsup:
There were 5 of us there: Chad, Humphrey, Rich, Amon, and me (Amon is my daughter's boyfriend). Rich was there to help as he was not building one for himself. What a trooper! Nils showed up at the end of Saturday afternoon just about the time we...
Dave,
Did I say CAD drawing? I just thought you might still have that crumpled piece of paper you drew up as a template. A good pic may help though. Oh well, I guess we'll muddle thru somehow. ;)
Dave,
Chad and I were talking about the control panel and it seems that we both have considered duplicating your set-up. After putting it through its paces, is there anything you would change or any tips you might offer? And If you have a dim drawing of it, would you be willing and able to...
Chad,
I came across this site which details step-by-step instructions to build a Defender cabinet. Check it out before you hit the builder supply. He includes a materials list which could also be very helpful.
I have the dims now and will try to get this laid out in AutoCAD before the meet...
Thx for the discs and the info Dave.
While I'm on the subject...
I happened on a site for those who have a little interest in arcades. These arcades were designed to use only one sheet of material... uh... wood product... er... whatever. Enjoy! :)
