Unfortunately me neither, but of the more 'mainstream' titles that could be considerated by Criterion this has got to rank right up there. Plenty of additional footage, a 1964 version and of course all being based upon a novel by James Jones, certainly sounds like something Criterion could work...
Gary, Given that you reviewed the Danish Electric Parc release of Lars Von Trier's - Europe Trilogy any plans to tackle the recently released Danish Dogme 1-4 Anniversary Edition? Cheers
Hi, Just wondering if anyone had picked up the newly released R2 UK dvd? Particularly interested in relation to how it compares with the Criterion edition in terms of transfer and the quality of the exclusive UK commentary and interview? Thanks.
Ron, By all accounts the documentary is a 'labor of love' and worth purchase price in its own right for a lot of potential buyers. Personally speaking, the less said about the main feature the better.....
Gary,
Appreciate the recent 'Haute Tension' comparison which i had stated earlier that i'd hoped you'd get round to, so thanks :emoji_thumbsup:
Given your appreciation of all things Criterion i'm hoping you'll get round to comparing the upcoming R2 version of Hearts And Minds against the...
Apologies if this is the wrong thread to post in, but wondering what titles Criterion have planned in 'revisiting' in 2006 (Besides Tati titles) in light of M,Wages Of Fear etc... I wonder if they intend on supplying an English friendly COMPLETE version of Kwaidan...given that the recent...
Funny enough i was just about to ask if anyone was experiencing problems...i'm just about to watch 'Meet The Beetles' after watching the prior episodes thus far without problems, so am hoping that these problems aren't widespread, though i do of course sympathise with those having problems as...
Yes, got to concur with the fact it is going to be due to the manufacturing process and essentially this just going to be the glue drying whilst bonding the whole disc together etc i would think. If i was to get worried about bubbles/smears at hubs and cloudy swirls on discs i doubt i'd have...
Out of curiosity i heard that there was going to be a 3 disc edition released in the Netherlands, don't know how true this is but was wondering whether anyone could shed any light on the matter?
Ordinarily would jump at this in an instant but i'm prepared to wait in the expectation of Criterion releasing this in the near future. I was almost going to buy the Nouveaux R2 version of 'Au Hasard Balthazar' until i caught wind of Criterion releasing an edition of their own.
Finally going to get round to watching my Yearbook edition. I was wondering whether anyone knew of any problems being reported with regard to any of the discs in the set so that i'll have an idea of what i should be on the look out for? Any help, much appreciated ;)
Just out of curiosity, what's the general opinion on the R2 Japanese transfer? I've seen plenty of mention of the Edko & Starmax releases but seeing as though the R2 Japanese transfer of 'Hero' was generally accepted to be the best i was wondering whether it was a similar case in this instance.
