Your opinions please! Sony SXRD 60" or Sony 52" LCD?

Do LCD TV's have a fast enough response time that you won't see motion blurs in action films and sports?

Display Technologies Pros vs Cons thread

Speaking from a still semi-newbie perspective, would it be possible to add a glossary? I'm mostly referring to the SSE, SDE and RE. I think I have a reasonable idea what they all are, but I'd like to hear a more precise description who knows better than me. Great idea, though. Thanks for the info.

Sony XBR1 Green blob or green lines

Are the XBR1's the only sets having this problem or do the A2000's and XBR2's have it as well? Is it something that has been remedied in newer versions of the TV's or might the Sony's being produced now have the same problem? I'm thinking about getting the 60" A2000 so any info would be appreciated.

    Extended warranty issues

Admin - Hope this is the right section, I'm sorry if it's not. So I've got a friend who purchased an RCA DLP TV a couple years ago at a local store and bought the extended warranty with it. The color wheel has gone out twice. The first time it was fixed within 2 weeks. This last time it went...

    Viewing distance question

Forgive me if this has already been discussed. I'm trying to decide if it's worth buying a 1080p for my next TV. I've got a viewing distance of about 9'. Like everyone else I want to simply see the best picture, regardless of the type of technology. I guess my question is this: Should I get a...

    ISO Original Star wars

I'm looking for the original Star Wars movies with Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford etc. I want the films as they were first shown, not the ones GL "remastered" in 1997. Do they exist in a digital format? I think there was a laserdisc edition that had all 3 movies, but I don't have a laserdisc player...

    HTPC displayed on TV question

here's where i sound like a total retard. yes, i do have a progressive scan DVD player, and the TV does have component inputs. what about a difference between s-video and component? the card that i'm using on that machine doesn't currently have dvi. my gaming machine has dvi, though, so if it's a really big difference i could get a newer one for my gaming machine and switch the other to the htpc. any excuse to buy a...

How to treat a SCSI - any different than SATA?

you would only have needed standard edition anyways, not small business. but, server2003 has a LOT less support for drivers especially on hi end video and sound cards b/c that's not typically what a server would be used for. the server OS isn't optimized for playing music videos. it's built for...

    HTPC displayed on TV question

ok guys, i have this TV and i want to hook up a PC to it. It's got an s-video in, and my video card has an s-video out so that's what i used to hook it up. but it's really blurry on the TV. is this just because the TV isn't HD? if i were to get a video card that had a different type of output...

How to treat a SCSI - any different than SATA?

that's a ridiculously nice system man. only thing i would have done differently is go with 2x10k rpm SATA drives instead of the SCSI's. but that's nothing to fret over. nicely done.

Recievers have major impact on sound?! i need help please.

as far as the limited bass on the right speaker.....this is kinda elementary, but i just want to make sure you've got the wires hooked up correctly. if you've got the + and - reversed on one side you'll get sound still, but horrible bass.

Single Channel vs. Dual Channel RAM

yes, dual channel is VERY worth paying the extra money for if your computer can make use of it. basically you can think of ram as any electrical switch. it cycles on and off. when it's off no information gets transported. basically what dual channel does is makes sure that the light switch is...

Purchasing a pair Polk LSi15 on EBay - Need advice.

i but stuff off ebay all the time. the key is to look at the seller's rating and number of reviews. if you have a seller with 3000 reviews 97.6% satisfaction rating then you should be alright. but if you see someone with 25 reviews and only a 50% satisfaction rating then stay clear of them...

i'm looking into buying a new reciever and i'm trying to decide between the Harman Kardon AVR-335, Denon AVR-2105, and the pioneer 1014. but what i've noticed is that the hk has a much lower wattage output. at least in the published specs. it's only rated at 55 watts. the denon and pioneer are...
