Heya, I've got a pair of Selenium 15CO1Ps in the recommended boxes (giant coaxial speakers). I built them for college and I absolutely love them even though they're enormous so I'm not going to be replacing them any time soon. Thing is, I need a center channel to match them and I want to make...
diyaudio has me looking towards an 18" driver - specifically hte Peavey low rider http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=294-301 It's got some pretty impressive specs - though I'm not sure what kind of cabinet to build for it (does it lend itself to a horn? How can you tell?)
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...=290-570&DID=7 anyone have experience with these? The stats there are very intriguing, especially at that price. And producing output comparable to several 18" drivers? What's the deal on this thing, and would I be getting in way over my head to try...
sounds like SPL is definitely what I'm looking for though right? If that's the case the Selenium drivers are 5-6 dB higher than the Tempest. I sacrifice a lot in the FS department but that's not so important when it's primarily a music application right? Also - after doing some more looking...
basically need a sub that'll pound really hard with music at parties. I'm more concerned with the music application than the HT part. I'll be powering it with a Crown XLS-202 amp that I have which will give it ~400w continuous at 8ohms and, clearly, more at less resistance. Still, I'd like to...
I'm looking to get some port plugs for vented speakers with 4" ports. Does anyone know of a place to get these? It's really hard to find the right size anywhere. I'll take anything, doesn't need to be a nice rubber stopper, I'd take a PVC pipe plug too.
all right, I got it. It only works with Dolby stuff, not the 5 Ch Stereo, and I had to set up the LFE so that it worked together with the Front L&R Channels, since I have all my speakers set to large.
Here's what I have going: Harman Kardon AVR 635 / Subwoofer Out to an RCA Splitter / 2xRCA to XLR cable / Crown XLS-202 I think this is an issue with the RCA to XLR stuff. RCA is unbalanced and XLR is balanced, it seems like that could be a major problem. I figured I would lose the...
All right, I'm trying to hook up a pair of subs in boxes to my new Crown XLS-202. The amp only takes XLR inputs, which (clearly) my receiver doesn't have. I have a Harman Kardon AVR-635. I'm trying to split the Subwoofer output into two XLR connections. Should this work, in theory? I know...
I'm liking that RL-P 15" driver. It's a monster and the numbers are looking good. Obviously I'm open for more suggestions though. I'm also a huge fan of drivers that lean towards efficiency instead of raw wattage consumption. They last longer and sound better on less of an amplification...
the xmax on that RL sub are impressive, no doubt. But my original plan was to use a plate amp. I'm not entirely set on that - if people say a separate amp with an EQ is the way to go then I'll do that. Certainly it's a cheaper way to get a 1000 watt amp. Good call on the DVC driver from PE...
gettin kinda pricey on the driver selection, I thought $200 for one driver was a lot. I'm interested in the idea of using two cheaper subs instead of one. I had never really thought of that. I know for music it can be much better, but I'm a bit concerned that it won't be nearly as crisp or...
I have about a $600 budget, and I was really really interested in the Drake project from Parts Express: http://www.partsexpress.com/projects...ake/index.html I have a similar budget, and am looking towards the same amp, but his priority was to keep the enclosure small, and space is not...
they're 4 ohm subs. I was thinking something like a Crown CLS-402B. Is QSC any good? They have a couple old school cheap options that have a lot of power.
I have a couple of Infinity Perfect 10.1 from my friends old car audio system and I'm looking to hook them up in the house. I know I know car subs, home theater application - whatever. I still want to give it a shot. I'm looking at a budget of about $300 - is it best to look towards pro audio...
they're not just woofers, they're full range coaxial speakers. And yes, I'm running them off the receiver. They're set to large, so what you're saying is that the crossover setting shouldn't be affecting anything?
That could very well be it. Like I said it's about on par with the sony right now, and there's really not much room for complaint. I'm still a little bit curious about the x-over setting. If I have the sub off does it even use it?
All right quick observation - in the OSD it has an option for adjusting speakers by size and by x-over. If they're set to large is that the same as an x-over @ 100hz? If so maybe adjusting that would help. I tinkered a bit and got it up to par, I had it set to no subwoofer but I didn't have...
I recently bought a Harman Kardon AVR-630 refurbished off Harman Kardon direct on ebay. I had heard decent enough things about them and honestly the receiver seems to work pretty well so far. With one exception: I'm not getting much for sub 100hz frequencies. I don't have actual equipment to...
this is pretty dead but I figured I'd update. I ended up going with a refurbished Harman Kardon AVR-630 from harmanaudio.com Got it for about $500 before shipping. I really like the 630, and I've heard good things about these refurbed ones from harmanaudio. Still I'm pretty anxious to get...
HK lists their power ratings with all channels driven, whereas other manufacturers list the peak ratings to an individual channel. It makes a very considerable difference. That 630 was (unfortunately) sold. I'll check ebay tho, sounds good.
