ok, well i just got a new receiver, and its a sony. I had a sub hooked up before to my old receiver OK, well the new amp has a sub out, the one cable conneciton, but my sub only has the red and white, and then the speaker cable with 4 slots. How do i hook it up?
update, my dvd player is retarded, i cant even get the setup menu, whenever i put setup when its on but no dvd inside, it says setup on the dvd player but nothing happens to the screen. I have the govideo dual deck thing with dvd and vhs
when watching watching a movie on Sony XBR with dvd via component, we get these wavy lines going up and down, also, how do i know if its on progressive scan, no switch on the back or anything

ur right about the sub, but another thing, i have xbox, and the hd pack, and i would like to use the 5.1 sound. This receiver doesn't have optical out.

no, back in virginia, in my room, I have a Sony 20 inch Flat Screen Trinitron. Also, in our home theater we have a Sony 70 inch XBR LCD RPTV. Then, at our vacation home we have a 65 inch Sharp HDTV, older crt rptv, but when i use a prog scan on that it doesn;t say its using it on the dvd player.
