ok, well i just got a new receiver, and its a sony. I had a sub hooked up before to my old receiver OK, well the new amp has a sub out, the one cable conneciton, but my sub only has the red and white, and then the speaker cable with 4 slots. How do i hook it up?

update, my dvd player is retarded, i cant even get the setup menu, whenever i put setup when its on but no dvd inside, it says setup on the dvd player but nothing happens to the screen. I have the govideo dual deck thing with dvd and vhs

when watching watching a movie on Sony XBR with dvd via component, we get these wavy lines going up and down, also, how do i know if its on progressive scan, no switch on the back or anything

well, can someoen give me a link to the specific receiver? also, i have currently a panasonic, receiver, dvd, and 5.1 speaker package for 400 i got like 2-3 years ago how does it go against the sherwood

ur right about the sub, but another thing, i have xbox, and the hd pack, and i would like to use the 5.1 sound. This receiver doesn't have optical out.

i really don't want a combo, i got stuck with one last time, and i don't like them, BTW I'm also looking for a nice prog scan dvd player. I have a 20 inch Sony trinitron flat screen, and it has component, will component benefit it even if its not prog scan, (I might buy a new tv soon too.

recently i have seen rca type inputs on receivers for speakers, are those better than the wire coil pinch thing? What is the best speaker output?

I really don't want to spend more than 200 on a receiver since im 14 and its for my room. because i got a free polkaudio sub, and my current receiver cant handle it. so at circuit city they have the silver pioneer for 150, and they have an open box panasonic for 200 that is originally 299. Also...

no, back in virginia, in my room, I have a Sony 20 inch Flat Screen Trinitron. Also, in our home theater we have a Sony 70 inch XBR LCD RPTV. Then, at our vacation home we have a 65 inch Sharp HDTV, older crt rptv, but when i use a prog scan on that it doesn;t say its using it on the dvd player.

i dont know how to fix it
