ok elizabeth, i got back from vacation & spent the next day or so tackling this thing & soon realized that i probably needed to take a break from it to realize the small but hugely important oversight i made: [b]i was using the wrong video connection between the stereo & the TV.[b] the stereo...
elizabeth, trust me i was stomped as well. perhaps i will try tackling this issue earlier in the day as opposed to late at nite when my brain may be more alert & creative juices flowing. :) anyway, i spent most of today installing & finally mounting my plasma on the wall. so resolving my...
elizabeth, thanks for your response. i never had to set my tv channel to 3, 4 or anything. i simply changed the input selection choice on my TV's remote (i.e. TV, AV1, AV2, or AV3). the vcr output was connected to my receiver via composite cables. i also used composite cable to run the...
reginald, thanks for your response. it does seem like that is the only connection my tv is recognizing, but i did have the other a/v cables connected. here's what i did tonight: i tried various combinations of connections & 2 things i am certain of: 1) there is a problem going thru my...
I recently bought the samsung dvd-vr325. Does anyone know how to set this unit up so that it can be selected from my television's AV1 or AV2 input? This seems simple enough to answer easily, but I can only get my vr325 to display on my TV if the TV channel is set to 3 (or 4). I replaced my...

PAGE!!! what happened to the expected price drops this weekend?? :) i was certainly prepared for this & philips (hopeful)response to it. but oh well.. or at least there were none in my neck of the woods (atlanta) kahlil
page, thanks for internet referrals. i have been price watching these tvs on several internet sites, but i have some skepticism about making this large of a purchase on the net in general and even more so with some of the "low cost" dealers. (you know, as in "you get what you pay for"?) the...
page, i am a member of that forum (AVS) too and have read the preponderance of threads on the pannys. however, this new generation of philips have only been on the market since this summer (maybe less than 2mos?) and there is a thread on that forum in which several ppl have preferred it over &...
i'm curious to know why you'd pass on the philips? did you have a bad experience with them? or read some negative stuff about them? or?? also page, you seem to be either well versed about industry info or work for this industry. you've got some really good info. so what's your story? :)
nic, have you considered the new philips models? for several months i was interested in getting a panny pd25, but a few months ago they replaced it with the current series. i am thoroughly disappointed with the features (lack of) on the new model & began looking elsewhere. was curious to...
I think this unit was just recently introduced. It's an HD model with a lot of the features that i want/need in a unit.. Anyone have one of these or are familiar with it?
ryan, i'm prettty sure the vcr signal is passed to the tv or monitor via rca, s-vid or comp cables & not the RF connector. so i'm pretty confident this may work.
true ryan. i forgot about that, but like i said at the end: how about the reverse of that? i.e., run the cable feed/signal to the vcr; connect the vcr to the tv via s-vid or component cables; then run the OTA antenna to the Rf input on the tv.
kool thanks for the link phil. question for all, how about this set up?: use OTA antenna to vcr then connect vcr to tv via s-video (or composite cables). the RF input on tv can then be used for cable signal. has anyone tried that or the reverse? kahlil
thanks bob. the reason i do not want a switch is cause i do not want to do any manual changing. i'm thinking if the tv had 2 RF connectors i would be able to connect the cable feed to one input & my OTA antenna to the other & thereby be able to control/select the feed/source remotely. does...
thanks bob that helps... i did not know about sat boxes being able to pass thru OTS signals via an external antenna. do cable set top boxes not offer the same possibility? anyway, the switch box is exactly the route i did not want to go, but feel it may be the main option. also what about...
i am curious to know how any of you connected your OTA antenna AND cable input to your tv which has only one RF (coax) input? i do not have cable ( yes i know i'm in a huge minority regarding that). i plan to purchase a plasma tv with the intent of getting cable eventually. but i may still...
thanks mike.. but no, i do mean 42" not the 50"... i have seen it advertised ata coupld of online sites, but have not heard much about it. thanks for the background info on philips tho. :emoji_thumbsup:
I think this unit is just coming to market. It's HD with a lot of the features that i want/need in a unit.. Anyone have one of these or are familiar with it? I also like the cost on this unit MSRP ~$2800.... have seen a a couple of online sites listing it for $2200 - $2400.
michael have you had the opportunity to view the sammy & panny side by side? hey mort! i remember you giving input on an earlier thread i had (either on this forum or another?)..anyway what kind of sammy unit/product did you have? have you heard anything about this current generarion of...
thx again peter. i know the 50 still has hdmi, but there were at least a 3-4 items that it lacked that the 25 had which i insist on having. so if not the cable card then perhaps it was the number of inputs/outputs? i cant recall offhand since it's been a few months since i last compared features...
peter, i find it interesting that you feel the 50 series is a "leap in quality" over the 25 series. can you explain how so? the main reason i want the pd25 instead of the pd50 is because of all the features (mainly pip & cablecard) that panny took off the 50 model. michael, thanks for your...
ummm guys? while the intellectual, aesthetic, dare i say - philosophical "discussion" about ED vs HD is really appreciate, the original question was regarding the sammy vs the panny models stated (sp-r4232 vs th-42pd25u/p both EDTV). can we return to that?:) so michael you have one of these...
i've just found out about this 42" plasma which rivals the one i have been wanting for sometime now & now feel undecided about which is best? the samsung sp-r4232 or the panny th-42pd25u/p. i have been wanting the panny for a while, but unwilling to pay the amounts i have seen advertised. the...
