Ohhh, I just tossed out all my taped-off-TV VHS copies of season 8 in anticipation of this release. Crap, it must have been 10 or 15 tapes!
Suddenly, I have a ton of extra room!
Thanks for all the great photos posted in this thread. What a wacky season this was, and one my favorites. Seven...
Completely Silent!
In case anybody out there was wondering, this player does not create any fan noise. I have had this player for about 2 months, replacing my Toshiba XA2. The XA2 is a fab upconverter, but the fans sounded like an air conditioner at all times—drove me bonkers!
This Oppo is...
One often overlooked film that touches on that subject is 1968's "Rachel, Rachel," starring Joanne Woodward. Estelle Parson's character is a Lesbian. This was just released on DVD this year. Someone mentioned "The Fox," starring Anne Heywood & Sandy Dennis in an earlier post, and I second...
I wish they would release the 3 Gidget films in widescreen. The current release is all fullscreen, the original Sandra Dee film is a particularly bad pan/scan.
It's missing all the wit of the original, but I enjoyed it mostly for the cast. It's hard to believe the script was refined 10+ times over the years, nothing special in that respect. The surprising thing is that it is squeezed onto a single-layer disk. I noticed that the opening titles had a...
Some of my taped VHS gems: Dr Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs, 1966 Eye of the Devil, 1966 Hot Rods to Hell, 1967 Incredibly Strange Film Show, circa 1988 Legend of Lizzie Borden, TV movie from 1975 with Elizabeth Montgomery Me, Natalie, 1969 No Man of Her Own, the 1950 Barbara Stanwyck...
Tony, I'm not sure about the 2004 release of Driver's seat being full or widescreen. I see on Amazon that it's put out by "Pro-Active Entertainment," and is only $4.99...it doesn't too look good that this release will be any better. I have the other edition put out by "Cheezy Flicks". I'm...
I Love the Driver's Seat. It's bazaar, and I don't think most people would consider good in any way. I reccommend it for Taylorholics only. A fascinating Liz "performance," and a bit over the top (YAY). The actual DVD I have is pretty crappy. It's full-screen, and the print looks , well, not...
Just a warning update: The problem is NOT fixed over 24 hours later. I just recieved an email from a kind DDD customer who said he was logged into my account. He even sent me a screen shot, and sure enough, all my account information was right there in the hands of a complete stranger...
I just bought a HD 36" Sony Wega CRT. I LOVE it! The flat panel TVs are definately sexy, there's no denying that, but they cost way too much. Also, with a CRT the issues with burn in, burt-out pixels, etc..are not there. And, there is the "no maintenance' aspect that I like. No need to replace...
I had to go to the "Action" section to find Wild Angels/Hells Belles and Wild in the Streets/Gasss, while everything else seemed to be in the horror section. There was no special display.
I can verify the contents of the original disk. It was dual sided, full frame on one side, and letterboxed (non-anamorphic) widescreen on the other. That's a shame they only put the full frame version on the new disk. I'm hanging on the old disk.
If these releases are Best Buy exclusives, why isn't Best Buy promoting them? They're tough to find on the site, and the listing is incomplete (only mentioning the first title, no picture or specs).
I've read that the HS510 had issues with a white scrolling line while viewing HD material. I can confirm that this has been fixed on the HS420, I do not see it at all on my 36HS420. It looks super!
