Morning, I've been through all the threads, read all the reviews and I am still having a tough time making up my mind on which receiver to chose. Please let me explain my situation first; I'm active duty military currently stationed overseas in Italy (Sicily). My choices which are limited...
1,100 Euro !!!!!! Yup, went out and done some more browsing today ay Bruno's the Italian Best Buy/Good Guys, and when I went into the "High End" set-up room, they were using the 2900 as their demo for SACD's, DVD-A's and DVD's, I took a quick peek at the price tag and almost fell over. Anyone...
Octavio, I went out and picked up "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" today and the first thing I checked was the bonus tracks, not a problem getting to them, just highlighted the selection and bingo there they were. You might want to take the disc in and exchange it for a new one.... Even if you don't...
On another side note: I've also taken the plunge into "Back Lighting" to try and obtain a top-notch picture. I've thought about it in the past but never pursued it. You've probably thought it was hard getting help back in the States at Home Depot or whatever your local hardware store is...
1. The Fifth Element: Wide variety of textures and an almost cartoon-like palette of wild colors, remains an industry standard for demos. 2. Once Upon a Time in Mexico: Shot on high-def video, displays crisp lines, deep colors and darks, and plenty of detail. Portent of future movie...

If the Y/C delay reappears after installing the firmware, just revert back using the one with the Y/C fix. One of the perks of this firmware for me over here in Italy is the fact that I get new releases sooner than if I were in the States, I have owned Troy for a week already and will be...
I would call the Panny company on this one so you get some info straight from the horses mouth, not saying you might not get lucky here. But that sounds like it might be some kind of compatibility problem, but few here are going to be able to answer that one. But you never know! hope you get it...
Addressing the "Display" issue under the Etc tab... This will not remove or hide the operating action of the DVD player on your monitor screen ! What this refers to is when you have the display of your 2910/3910 set to off using the dimmer button on your remote and have "Display" set to "On"...
This is a must in my opinion. All SVM does is add artificial edges which has the same effect along the lines of your "Sharpness" control except 10 fold. The Sharpness control might have been useful in the 70's and 80's but in my opinion and that of many others only adds artifacts to images, thus...
Well I must have been dizzy when I went through all the settings after installing this firmware  Region free applies to component and DVI out, don't know what I missed after install but I went back today to check everything and sure enough it was region free over DVI, upscaled to...
I would first recommend that you call a priest and see if there is a possibility of demonic possession, could be your television next and then who knows what !!!!! Seriously, it sounds like it needs serviced to me. Is it still under warranty? Possibility of exchange? Or you could use it as an...
"Hi Steven...have I understood you correctly...does the modification only work for the component output? I have a HDMI cable running to my projector Regards....Anders." Anders, that issue has been resolved, will work via DVI, I would appreciate it if you could confirm HDMI, I am only...
Dave-A, The menu under the ETC. screen for disabling "Display" is in reference to the "On Screen Display" on the television. If you turn it to off you will no longer see items such as "Play >", "FWD >>", etc on the display's screen.... To disable the display on the player use the "Dimmer" on...
Sooo..imho, if she can't tell the difference, then chances are, there isn't any That's kinda risky :) My wife tells me things like that all the time just so I leave her alone :) But!, yup, unless the clouds parted and sound waves filled your ears and warmed your cocclia (SP?) I don't...
The only "Crush" I'm familiar with is the "Orange Crush" Denver Broncos defense from the eighties :) :) Maybe it's a new Pittsburgh or Ravens defensive nickname??? :) Seriously, like Eric said, if you don't see a problem don't go looking for one !!!! Just sit back and enjoy the beautiful...
Do you have the option of using another input device CD/DVD player? You could use the CD player and run a DD ProLogic Signal throught he receiver and see if the center channel drops, you could also just go buy a cheapo DVD player that has optical out which I'm assuming your using, or either way...
In the "Other Setup" mode, set the "player Mode" to "Audio" Did this do the trick Greg?, I think I've seen a few posts regarding this issue, you would think the DVD-A would automatically send out the appropriate format to the player but you actually have to set it manually.
Not sure if this is in the manual, I don't own it :) DVD-2900 Audio Setup Tips The following setup guidelines are recommended for the DVD-2900 player to work to its fullest potential in the playback of DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD material as well as DVD-Video material (if you are using...
Greg, Happy to hear you got your player all in one piece :) 1. Make sure the playback priority is set to DVD-A otherwise it will play the DVD-V layer , should default to DVD-A layer but you never know!! 2. Using the players setup menu and selecting Speaker size and Output level will in...
Correct Jay, run that second optical cable from your cable box to your receiver, it should be labeled something like Optical-2 or Audio-3, 4 whatever. Then go into your receiver input setup to ensure it's labeled properly or set up to receive the proper signal that's being input i.e. optical...
HDMI and DVI are paths that the player use to send the signal to your display/television. If your display isn't equipped with either type of input than it's not really and issue. If it is than you can bypass the component output and use HDMI or DVI to maintain a direct digital signal from the...
Ahh the good'ol Coax vs Optical strikes again !, I say just get some headphones and call it good! gee-sh saves money by bypassing the whole speaker thing to! :) and of course "cables not included" Hmmm, but wait, that raises the question, do I go with coax or optical headphones???:D :D :D...
Region free indeed, with no problems installing firmware. Took a couple of tries to get it "Initialized" (Be sure to press open/close while 2910/3910 is being displayed, I'm a little slow :)) but other than that smooth sailing. Just a heads up, if you've made picture adjustments within the DVD...
Dave, First ensure that HDMI Audio Setup is in 2ch, then go to Audio setup ----> Audio Channel = Multi (while multi-channel is highlighted press Enter again and you will get a secondary menu to adjust speaker size and output levels). Audio Channel = Multi Digital Output = Normal LPCM =...
