Well I got the Esoteric and the 927's sound better then I can imagine. The bass is much more extended and solid. My pioneer sounds thin and vailed in comparison. The mids and highs are just fantastic. With SACD's DVD-A's and XRCD's they are simply incredible. I literally can not wait to get home...
It could be that one or more of the channels are going bad. It seems that you have tested it pretty well. Don't know. My guess would be the amp. Any way to get a temp one for testing? It could be that some of the more delicate electronics on the inside were damaged. But this is all speculation...
I have the 4b-ST. I have had them for about 5 years. They are very good amps. I think you are getting a good deal. I hope that it all works out. You should notice a huge difference when you plug them in. If you are going to use it on the center, be prepared to hear spoken words that you never...
Powering the center speaker with the amp will make a huge difference. I started to hear dialog much cleaner and clearer when I did that. On SPR I heard dialog on the beach I never heard before. It should make a noticeable difference.
I have the 4b-ST and the 5b-ST. The 5b is the same as the 3b only with one more channel. I have the 5b on the center and surrounds and the 4b on the front L/R. I have not noticed any major problem with volume
Outlaw is internet only so it's going to be hard to try and listen to them. But like you said, they have a 30 day trial so it may be worth the shipping.
I agree with waiting if you can. It took me about 5-6 years to get where I am. I got here by being patient and doing my research. It all worked out in the end. Like every one says just slow down and just sit for a while. If you take your time, I can almost guarantee good results. Its real easy...
Here is a review on the S8 http://www.goodsound.com/equipment/mirage_omni_s8.htm Here is one on the S12 http://www.hometheatersound.com/equi...e_omni_s12.htm Maybe the 10 is somewhere in the middle here is a review of the Omnistats with the S10...
I completly forgot about outlaw. That might be a good place to start. $578 is not too bad for 300 watts of power per side. If you do that, you should be quite impressed on how better your speakers sound.
They may be 5ohm nominal but that does not mean that they don't dip below that at times. Monoblocks would be killer but a 2250 or or 3250 should be fine with those speakers. Check Sterophile.com AV market place, and do a search for Krell. Looks like many options there. Also audiogon.com has...
Amps are personal. It would not hurt to try and find some Krell amps and see if they are for you. I liked them, but I like my Brystons as well. I never heard Crown so I can not say anything about them. Krell is good stuff though IMHO. But I think will need power for your speakers. So unless you...
The Theta Digital Casanova has balanced inputs for L/C/R but not for surround. I Don't think it has an EQ function. The Casablanca can be fitted with balanced inputs but that is ALOT of money. The Krell showcase, which I have, has balanced inputs. But not PLIIx. It also has a pretty extensive EQ...
I had an older Denon, the 3300, for a number of years and liked it very much. Not bright at all. A freind of mine has a 3805 and that sounds good to me also. Again not bright to me. I can not comment on the new Yamaha or Pioneer.
Krell for 1000 even used is going to be tough to find I think. If you find one I would jump on it. You may want to consider some older Bryston amps as well-4b-ST, 5b-ST, 3b-ST, 9b-ST. It sounds like you have the makings for a very nice setup. P.S I have the showcase preamp and like it very much...
Infinity PS-10,Klipsch RW-10. These 2 seem to be up near the top. At places like cnet(klipsh) and pricegrabber(infinity), they both seem to get high reviews from people who bought them.
One thing you should know is that Deftech sometimes inflate their numbers. Also the price for the SVS pb10 is $429. That seems to be in the middle of your range of 399-599. You might be able to goto www.ecoustics.com and find some reviews of the deftech.

I would also use The Bourne Identity: Extended Edition. I have the regular version. It has a great soundtrack. Motion from speaker to speaker is very good. And it has some high impact parts. Irobot has some nice bass filled parts as well as just sounding clean. And of course any of the LOTR movies.
Disclaimer: I have no experience with either one. My opinion is based on research of these products. I would most likely go for the Anthem. The quality I would assume is better. Not to mention that Paradigm and Anthem are under the same parent company. I just think that the Anthem is a higher...
If you are happy with it, then that is the correct choice. I have no problem waiting and saving to get something a little better. It is the only way I work.
I know what you mean. When I first started this, I was using 10 year old pioneer floor standing stereo speakers. I think that you will be happy with that setup. I know the swans have gotten good press.
Congrats on the new speakers. The newer model looks like it would be a better overall performer. It most likely has better Dacs then your older one. The EQ will not change the quality for the better. What it will do is allow you to fix problems in you room or if you speakers sound bright or...
If Your room is very big then maybe the 7.1 might be worth the wait. There are just to few movies that have even 6.1 as there format. My room has 5.1 and it sounds great. But, my room is small. It also depends on how you feel about upgrading and regret. It seems like you may be running 5.1 for a...
