I have all of the Network Gerry Anderson releases. Fireball XL5 and Supercar are "Region B", but play fine in every Region A player I put them in. The warning appears, but just press play and then the menu appears and disks play as expected. I don't believe Stingray is region coded, as they...
When Kevin Burns did the remaster, he stated they would release the OAR on Blu, and make the widescreen available on digital. They never showed up on digital, at least not yet.
I don't know. Walmart website has it as a pre-release for 29.34. So, you got it for a good price. Have you looked at it yet? Any comments on the wide-screen quality?
The Flintstones DVD full season set did not fix the edits that are in the Big Move episode, however, the entire episode seems to be on the Boomerang streaming service.
I'm going to guess the Filmation show will be the Superboy cartoons that were promised to be released a long time ago. For a while, Warner Instant Archive had about 19 available for streaming (now gone). It would be consistant with the other DC Filmation shows to release them retail.
I too was very disappointed by the picture quality of this set, definitely not up to snuff for DVD, more like the VHS tapes put out by Columbia. In fact, it almost looks like they didn't encode it properly, with the way the picture blurs in and out at times.
According to TVShowsOnDVD.com they will only contain the "next time on Lost in Space" preview trailers for the first 8 episodes in the set (at least for volume 1). If true, that is somewhat disappointing, as I recall the Columbia releases having all of those.
Jonathon, Thanks for the info. I don't know what Fox used to master their PAL version, the bottom line for me is that the original print is 24fps, and it is being seen at 25fps (or 50 fields), which causes a noticable change in pitch to many of the voices. Having grownup in the States, that...
Actually, I thought it was the fact that PAL is 25fps that caused the speedup. At any rate, I have this set (I'm in the States) and can state without hesitation that I can hear the difference in the voices, mainly the male actors. The disks play no problem on the computer (any DVD player can be...
Yep, it's true. It's basically the only real complaint I have about the set. I have found one trailer and the Spiderman intermission logo on one episode, I think on disk 4. Otherwise, they are not there.
The one episode on the Spidey set to check for edits is "The One Eyed Idol", from the first season. It's considered very un-pc now, as it depicts an Australian Aborigine in a less than flattering way. It hasn't aired on Teletoon, and it was skipped in the UK as well. It was available on one of...
