Having watched Gilligan in daily rotation for the better part of 10 years on a Spokane channel through the mid 70s to the early 80s, I always liked having those Season 3 teasers before the opening title sequence. It always has irritated me that WB, Turner, or whomever moved the majority of...
Here’s the link to my other photos of the set…

I bought the set and posted some photos of it last month in the Season 1&2 thread.
The Featurette is just under 12 minutes and is a documentary about the Nelsons and the series, hosted by TV historian Mark Quigley. It discusses their careers before the show and features observations and...
CBS DVD did something a little unusual with Hawaii Five-o’s music licensing in one instance. Season 11’s two-parter, ”Number One With a Bullet”, had several Bee Gees songs used in its network and original syndication versions. For the DVD release, they used replacement music on various...
Well, around Thanksgiving or thereabouts, the pre-order price on the Complete Series dropped down to around $138, which hit close to the sweet spot I was looking for. I pressed ahead with the double-dip (actually a triple-dip, since I bought the digital HD versions too), and I’m thrilled I did...
Weigel Broadcasting, owners of Me-TV and sister networks including Catchy Comedy (formerly “Decades”), is running the O&H Christmas episodes this weekend as part of Catchy’s Christmas episode marathon of various comedy classics.
I DVR’d today’s episodes, and they are using the new DVD...
I did an A/B comparison of Sheep Thieves, S1E22, between the Grit TV broadcast and the DVD version. Here’s what I’ve discovered:
GRIT TV:
*Runtime was 21:50 (1 four-minute break, newly inserted, and another break of four minutes & 10 seconds); DVD is 22:55.
*Grit’s transfers are definitely...
I looked at a few more this morning and these airings appear to be using completely new transfers that have been remastered, possibly in HD. There’s hardly a scratch or speck of dirt, and they appear to have higher resolution than the DVDs.
I may attempt to do an A/B comparison of a DVD episode...
I just looked at S1E15, “Old Joe’s Sister”, on GRIT via my DVR, and not only do these transfers (so far) include the missing “with his faithful companion Tonto” narration as noted above, they also look much brighter with better resolution compared to my DVDs (I own that giant Complete Series...
I recall from the podcast that Altman also mentioned they’re looking to do DS9 first (with Voyager to follow at some point), and that they would likely give Paramount+ an exclusive streaming window before any disc release, similar to what they did with STTMP’s Director Edition last year.
i...
Apologies, my fuzzy memory misattributed it to Bill Hunt. It was actually Mark Altman who mentioned this DS9 update on an episode of his Inglorious Treksperts podcast from around October 20th, 2023. I listen to their podcast every week, including that particular episode, and I‘ve found Altman...
I think Bill Hunt over at The Digital Bits had hinted recently that Paramount was actively taking bids from SFX houses for a DS9 HD remaster. Fingers crossed it’s sooner than later!
I’m crossing my fingers for a 4K UHD disc release of PICARD, Season 3 in particular. That was some of my all-time favorite Trek, and I would even buy a Complete Series set in 4K UHD, though I didn’t enjoy the first two seasons as much.
A Season 3 UHD release would really complement having the 4...
It’s still a great deal if you haven’t bought the season sets, or even if you’ve bought a few of them and wish to continue. For the episodes alone, it works out to $10.71 per season, or 35-cents per episode.😀. Not to mention the bonus material.
I’m just hoping they don’t turn around and offer a...
For anyone interested in the Complete Series set, Deep Discount has it significantly marked down from $260 to $153! Promo code DEEP10 will get you an additional 10% off as well, down to $138. I‘m giving serious thought to doing the double-dip...
As a follow-up, I compared the extras for the box set with the Time-Life set. It looks like the Complete Series bonus features have a couple new ones: “The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet Revisited” and “Ozzie’s Boys” both seem new, along with “Promotional Spots”. The booklet from the Time-Life...
Complete Series box set coming December 19th with 2 bonus discs and what appears to be a photo booklet, all for $260 on Amazon. From what I’m able to recall off-hand, most of the bonus disc features, and possibly the booklet, were included in the Time-Life compilation set from 2 years ago...
Exciting update to report! The digital HD Seasons 13 and 14 are now available for purchase on VUDU. I just bought them and briefly looked at a couple season 14 color episodes and they look fantastic...
They are now showing in-stock on the MPI website as well! I think we should be receiving shipping notices very soon on our pre-orders. Mine is with Bull Moose.
Nothing yet on the digital retailers like VUDU.
I think your best guess here makes a LOT of sense, though I would’ve expected they might still proceed with the digital release despite the delay on the DVDs. I see a lot of major studio releases get digital releases first.
Will cross my fingers and hope we get them before the busy holidays are...
It’s not shipping or showing in-stock anywhere, and even the digital versions aren’t available.
Very strange. I wonder why this is having a difficult time reaching the finish line? Is MPI having troubles?
I just finished episode 12.17, “The Wedding Picture”, and while I thought it was overall an unremarkable episode, it did feature Ozzie “pioneering” another 1980s television staple (just like he did with music videos): the outtake. The episode apparently ran short and needed filler, so Ozzie...
Can’t wait to complete my DVD (and my digital HD) collection! I’m almost finished with Season 11, and should be caught up by 9/26. It’s been fun discovering all these episodes I’d never seen before, and rediscovering old favorites from my WTBS days as a kid. The quality is amazing!
As i get close to wrapping up Season 10, I find it really interesting how this show continued to evolve during its run, and with this season in particular:
We find out in “The Client’s Daughter” that David graduated from law school (were we ever explicitly told he went on to law school after...
BARNABY JONES is now streaming on Amazon Prime as of 6/1, and they appear at a glance to be the same off-the-shelf old syndicated transfers that CBS gave VEI to use for the DVDs.
Fingers crossed that we get CANNON on Prime soon as well.
The new Amazon release date of 12/31/23 is most definitely a temporary placeholder, as that’s a Sunday. Most home video releases typically get a Tuesday release day in the U.S. I’m hoping it’s coming in August or September.
I just started Season 9 (“Ozzie the Boat Keeper” is another addition to...
