Hey Austin Texas Buddies? Can anyone help me out?

People are getting the Toshiba HD DVD for $363. See here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=693291 In other news, I'm leaving Austin. I got a job in Dallas and I'm getting ready to move next weekend. I'm thinking about possibly getting rid of my Oppo 971 and Da Lite 92" High...

Considering getting a front projector questions??

Jay, I'm getting ready to move out of Austin. I might need to get rid of my 92" Da-Lite High Contrast Matte White (1.1 gain) Model B with CSR. It is pretty much the pull down version of the High Contrast Cinema Vision. Though it's a pull down, I've had it down 99% of the time, never rolling it...

Hey Austin Texas Buddies? Can anyone help me out?

Nils, I hate to bring any more hd dvd vs blu-ray debate to this thread so I don't hope to post too much here after this post, as I usually spend most of my time on avs. You can pm me if you want to discuss anymore of this.

Hey Austin Texas Buddies? Can anyone help me out?

HD-DVD and Blu-Ray Both formats have their share of problems right now. Though I favor HD DVD currently, I don't plan on getting into either format until end of the year at the earliest (ps3 maybe), hopefully combo players will also be available then. Sony has also removed the 2nd HDMI...

Hey Austin Texas Buddies? Can anyone help me out?

I noticed Best Buy has HD DVD demo running at stores now. I was just watching a demo they had at the Best Buy at 183/Mopaq and it was quite nice. The demo itself was kind of set away from the other HDTVs on a 1080p Westinghouse display. The demo was playing a bunch of clips and trailers. The...

Considering getting a front projector questions??

One of the advantages that the IN76 has over other projectors under $3k is that it will deinterlace 1080i to 1080p before downscaling to 720p. One of the advantages with Infocus projectors is they are precalibrated very well out of the box while other projectors can be off a little bit and will...

The IN76 is $2700 from Costco online also. But is the $500 premium worth it with the Costco return policy?

    Austin DIY HT Projects

There is an issue with using a dual NTSC and ATSC tuner in MCE2005 last time I checked. MCE requires you to have a seperate card for both. So if you want ntsc and atsc in MCE then you will need an additional card. I'm using the DVICO FusionHDTV5 USB right now in XP Pro and it works well for...

You can also find additional coupons off of ebay, maybe spend a dollar or 2 for a $25-35 off coupon.

Thanks for the info Jonathan. I'm still unsure about Vista compatibility, I thought I read something about secure transport and maybe needing an approved motherboard (or possibly other things), but I do need to look more into it. But I guess it's good right now to wait, I'm not in need of an...

    Austin DIY HT Projects

Jonathan, looks like it's going to be a great system. I bet it's going to look great on the Infocus IN76. :) I've been itching to put together my own HTPC but I just can't knowing I will need to upgrade less than a year from now for Vista/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray compatibility. In the meantime, I'm...

Nils, Thanks for the interest. I should be going to the meet tomorrow and we can talk about it then.

It's time for another Austin meet!!!!!

The ND2 is a Hoya 62mm. If anything, we could hold it over the panny's lens. :) I'm at 1700 hours on the 4805 and I still got the filter on, it still seems too bright without it.

It's time for another Austin meet!!!!!

I'd like to come. I could bring my ND2 filter. I don't think I need to bring my 4805 but I could if there's interest. I can dig up some HD content if we need some of those to play, presumably off of Jonathan's HTPC.

Hmmm..... my email subscriptions haven't been working... Chad, I recently modded my xbox and I wish I had done it sooner. :) I must say you guys should definitely see what can be done with XBMC because it's quite cool. I have some pics up on AVS but I'll post them here while we are at it. :)...

    Austin Movie Nights!

Can't wait to see King Kong myself. Hopefully Universal will join Blu-Ray eventually for there to be an Blu Ray HD version. Has anyone else been following the HD DVD/Blu Ray war? HD DVD was supposed to be out this month in Japan, but has been delayed since AACS licensing is not ready...

How do I feed 1:1 from my pj through scaler??

What's the native resolution of your projector? If it's a 1280x720 display, set your leeza to output 1280x720. It sounds like your display is something like 1280x720 and is being fed 480p (720x480) from the leeza.

    Austin Movie Nights!

Rumor has it the new Infocus line up of projectors will support some kind of wireless video. It'd be interesting to see how this will work out. Good enough to save a lot of headaches for people I hope.

    Pioneer 1015 not loud enough

Summy, -10db for your sub is too low. It's because you have the gain on your sub too high. I'd recommend lowering the gain and rerun mcacc so that MCACC would set it closer to 0db (if mcacc sets it to +8db then gain is too low). Maybe run it hot by adding 1 to 3db (as many people do) to get a...

    Pioneer 1015 not loud enough

Summy, Your room is quite large. THX Select certification requirement is for a receiver to power a room up to 2000 cubic feet. Your room is almost 6000 cubic feet. THX Ultra certification is for rooms up to 3000 cubic feet (found in $2000+ receivers). You're gonna need additional amps if you...

"Widescreen" ratio no longer available with DVI input on Infocus 4805

Set it to 1280x720. I was testing out my 4805 at that resolution and browsing websites and was surprised it was decent.

Looking for affordable Front Projection set up (newbie)

You want to buy the 4805 from an authorized dealer, refurbished or not. I'm not sure if Infocus will do warranty work on projectors bought off of ebay. You really do want to have a warranty on items such as these, especially with the money you are spending. If you can, I'd recommend a new unit...

    Pioneer 1015 not loud enough

You should ignore the volume setting as this will vary for every receiver. I've seen enough new 1014/1015 owners question the volume of the receiver b/c they are listening at -20, which is normal for most 1014/1015 owners. You already said that this receiver when played at the same loudness is...

    Austin Movie Nights!

A projector with a 29" throw for a 60" diagonal image puts it close to rptv territory. Those new LED DLP mini projectors can throw a 50" image with a short throw. If they could put in the 1280x720 chips in them and put them in a box, they may have something....

24" 1920x1200 LCD Monitor looks like crap?

Allen, I would suggest familiarize yourself with downloading files via newsgroups as there are a lot of hd content available on it. It's not bad once your have the right resources and get past the learning curve.
