So I have noticed that over the last year it seems like my projector is getting louder and louder. Do you guys have any tips for reducing this? I tried vacuming out the vents when I changed my bulb recently, but it did not seem to help. Would WD40 on the fan work? Thanks
Ok, so I have a projector and just got Direct TV with there HD package, looks sweet. So while I knew they did not offer local HD channels, I thought at least the receiver would have an input for a HD antenna, not the case... So is my only option to buy a HD receiver and antenna and have them...
I got it from bestbuy and bought the 4 year replacement plan for $200 that also includes 1 lamp replacement. After I started thinking about it, can I just call them up and get my lamp, or am I going to have to ship the unit to BestBuy? I have not opened it yet and was planning on calling them...
It's funny you bring up that projector, thats the one I am eyeing! So you can tell me, is it a big upgrade? Currently my X1 seems just a little too dark with almsot everything. Also, what did you do with your old projector? Thanks!
hey guys, three years ago I built my budget home theater and love it! I will say it is starting to look dated though. With a bulb replacement at $300, I am leaning towards upgrading my projector. I was looking at 1080i projectors, and those are wayyyyy past my budget. What I am looking for...
The Black out material, is that what it is called? I have looked at our local fabric store and not been able to find anything that seems like it would work well. Currently I am using a white sheet =P. Good job man, I say throw a coat of paint on that wall when your mom is away. it will...
I did do the search option and could not find anything specific to the infocus X1. I have had my X1 for 2 years now and am still loving it! I am looking into getting a HD reciever (DTV) and upgrade my picture for my Xbox 360. Is the X1 even capable of HD? If so what is the propper way...
For my laptop. The main thing is I do not want it to have the time delay like so many products have now so I can use it to play my playstaion with. Do they sell a prodcut like this? Thanks! Randy
Ok, let me explain my set up and see if this will work. 1-Currently I have my Home theater set up in my room above the garage. 2-I have S video, and VGA ran through the wall, and up to the projector. My question is, can I just skip buying a long ass component cable to run through the...
Ok, I have had my X1 for over a year, and absolutly love it! My question now is I just got direct TV, and was wondering how I go HD with my X1? Is it as simple as getting a HD reciever? Thanks guys! Randy

If I want to build a very user friendly HTPC, is going with MS Media center edition 2005 the best choice? I ahve played with it some but do not like the limited ability to edit the saved shows I record. However it is way more user friendly than wintv2000. What do you all think? Thanks, Randy
I Have an X1 infous projector. I am installing a power outlet behind it and am also planning on installing a panel for wires (i.e. VGA, S video). When installing my speakers I purchased wall plates so I can easyily hook up speakers as opposed to just pulling the wires through the wall. I want to...
One thing I like about having our HT over our garage is I have 2 decent crawl spaces on both the east and west walls. This gives me a lot of flexability if I ever want to change anything.
I am looking to build a PVR for my home and am looking for a good video capture card that works with Windows media center. Does anyone run the new media center that could give me some suggestions? Thanks
I have a OT question. You room dimentions look to be about the size of mine. I am currently working on setting up a HT in there. Could you give me your room dimentions? I figured on your drawing that each square was a 6"x6", is that correct? Also are you using a projector? if so how big of...
Is there a way to move a tivo recording from the Tivo unit, directly to your PC through a network conection? Or do you have to play and capture it? Thanks! Randy
Rob, This may be off target, but you said: "though in the case of DV, you're technically not "capturing" but rather copying the file from the tape to the hard drive" Is this a setting when transfering the file? I always assumed you would be capturing it which seemed weird to me because...
Hey gang, I am planning on building a new HTPC, and was wondering what is considered the best "Tivo" like software. Also, how does it get programing guides? Would also like suggestions on a Case for my HTPC to match common black components. I found some today, but they ran $300+ Thanks a...
