I would use SCART from the STB to the TV for video and optical audio to the receiver. SCART should give you the equivalent of S-Video quality. You may even find a SCART to S-Video converter if you want to use the receiver as a switch.

You really need to set up using an SPL meter, tape measure and a calibration disk to get the levels correct. Maybe you can borrow these from a friend? Andrew

85dB is the reference level when setting up using the Avia disk, most others state to use 75dB. Have you tried setting up using EZset and seeing what level that uses? As long as all speakers have an equal SPL at the "sweet spot" everything should be OK. Then adjust the volume to whatever you...
