Thanks for the replies guys. The smudges get harder to see the farther to the side you move. If visible, they are always darker than the rest of the screen. I havent checked to see if they are more prevalent when cold or hot so I will check that out. I have yet to hear from a local service...

I bought some cheap lights that you would install in the top of a bookshelf or curio cabinet and put them behing my Sammy DLP facing up. They cost me $10 at Ikea. I think Home Depot has them too. Super easy to install, small, cheap and effective.

Since the wiring is already there go with an amp. Yes the Pioneer HU has power but I garantee you it is not 50X4. That is MAX numbers wich are useless. That Pioneer will do approx. 4x25 RMS and that, IMO, is not enough to drive speaker to an acceptible level. Most listeners often over-drive...

Every reciever of mine (3) is different which makes no sense since they are all off the same dish. The main Sammy HDTV is at 85%, RCA in bedroom is 90% and Sammy in kitchen is 92%. Have you had any high winds lately?

Actually the reason for the upgrade is two fold: 1) Current DVD is a Zenith DVD2381 which I find to be a POS. It was a open box buy for $59 at CC. It has progressive scan and optical but often freezes up or jumps and pauses. PQ is adequate at best. 2) Wifey wants abilty to play 5 audio CDs...
