I am wondering if there will be a significant differences in terms of audio quality between different optical cables? I am seeing a 3' cable at PE for $2.80 against 6' RCA cable at a local electronics store for $17.80. Since my DVD player is "right under" my AVR, cable length is not an issue.
Sean, Yes, to me, it looks like all three requirements have to be met, though Chu Gai has a valid point. Anyway, after much deliberation, I bid and won a "factory remanufactured" AVR 330 on ebay for $355 from H/K direct. Not sure if it is a good or bad deal, but I guess peace of mind is what...
Burt, I totally agree with Eric. True, H/K has offered some assitance in this regard, but not without your share of pain and frustration. IMHO, your complaint against jji should stay.. they cannot give people crap and expect to walk away with it.

Never mind.. I got the answer from H/K's website...
I understand they don't provide warranty for purchases from unauthorized delears, but at least they should have allowed transfer of warranties . Given the number of issues H/K receivers have, I wouldn't buy one without the warranty.
Someone is offering me a 3 month old H/K, online. The product was originally bought from Circuit City and is registered on H/K's website. Will this warranty still be valid if I buy the system from him? I tried H/K's website, but it was a little ambiguous for me. One sentence reads "Warranty is...
Guess I can chip in with my own analogy :D... For the same reason people buy Microsoft Windows based PC as against an Apple Mac. The latter might be a superior product and more value for money... but the first has more recognition and is more user friendly. Honestly though, I fall into the first...
I don't find a 430 from HK Direct on ebay and the 630s and 7200s are a little out of my price range. I once saw a good deal on a 525 on harman audio, but by the time I could research on them they were gone
Krishna Where did you get that 525 for $450? Could you please post the URL? I've been hunting harman audio for a week and couldn't find a single 525  Ravi
But then, why is it that I seem more of these posts only regarding HK? Good to know that your 325 runs without any issues, though. Yes, I am inclining towards the 525, unless I get a killer deal on a 325.
Andrew, In the "detailed comparision" section, they just compare 520 and 320 (even if you select the link from 325's product information page). Moreover, I would like to know if there is something I should know from an "end-user's perspective". In fact, lately I'm seeing so many quality...
I am trying to decide between a used HK AVR 325 and AVR 525. Can somebody tell me some the important differences between them, apart from the power? I'm getting the 325 for $280 and the 525 for $425 (both used, but the 525 has about 6 months of warranty left). Any advice really appreciated...
Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has an idea on how the Rocket UFW-10 would stack up to a comparable SVS sub (say PB1 or 25-31 PCi). I think one has a 10" driver and the other has a 12" driver, but they are priced in the same $600 range. I've listened to the UFW and it sounded really tight...
Thanks everyone! Doug, That was an awesome piece of information that you've given about BestBuy. I too prefer a local vendor is the difference is not a lot. I think I can use Cam's H&R link as a proof to show the BestBuy people. Honestly, I've been drooling over the 5760 :D, it is just that I...
I'm torn between choosing a HTR-5740 and HTR-5760. There is a price difference of $150 - $200 between them. But is that money worth it? I know once is 6.1 and the other one is 7.1 and I guess 6.1 is sufficient for me. Apart from YPAO and the 4lbs difference in weight, is there a pressing...
I guess I will concentrate more on the speakers.
Drew, Yes I went to a local sound track and tried the Klipsch RF15 package (matching sub and surround) on a Denon 1604. They sounded a little sharp to me. I guess on prolonged hearing, they will wear my ears down. What I'm trying to do...
Brandon, Onecall.com currently has a special for athena Point 5 MKII ($500, including a sub). I am also looking for some reviews on them before buying them. :D
Any idea about Athena Point5 System MK II with ASP300? OneCall.com has an offer for them for $500. I was thinking I can easily upgrade the front speakers to an ASF2 later.
Hi All, I'm planning to purchase my first HDTV (rear projection). I'm totally new to this and quite confused about the various formats - DLP, LCO, LCD Projection etc . Could someone please point me to the appropriate places to read more about them? Looking for some kind of a primer :D
Thanks Ramon! Could you throw some suggestions? One of the forums suggested a Rocket ELT (it includes their speaker package and a Denon 1804). I'm seriously considering this, but like to research more before finalizing.
