    JBL questions

Mark, Any difference in upper frequencies between the 38's and the 26's in minor. Bigger difference is in the bass. I was never able to get the 38's to fill the midrange the way I like it very well. That is why I am using the 312's.

    JBL questions

I paid $150 for a pair of new S38II's and at that price, I'm glad I bought them. I am not using them right now. I prefer the sound of the S312II's with ScenterII and S26II surround. See this thread: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...hreadid=216928 I know you are trying to compare to...

I need help with my PB-10 ISD!

From my experience, it is unlikely that you will find the "perfect" settings for your system for music and HT. I have to adjust the LFE level often depending on what the input device and recording is. I calibrated using the RS SPL meter and that works great, most of the time. However, when I...

    SVS Sub vs JBL PB12?

I bought an SVS PB10-ISD to go with my JBL S312II's, S-Center, S26II's and S38II's setup. Once I got the placement right (with help from Tom V. at SVS) and calibrated it, I couldn't be happier. The SVS PB10 has no problem keeping up with the S312's for music or HT. I considered the 20-39 PCI but...

“Just set everything to Small!” Ohhh...Ok..now I understand!

John: You are correct, the PB10 does not have an internal crossover adjustment. I use my A/V receiver for that.

“Just set everything to Small!” Ohhh...Ok..now I understand!

John, "And for any guys out there that are still using the “Large” configuration, consider upgrading your sub." Glad to hear your set improved by setting your JBL's to small. Can't say the same for my S312's and SVS PB10. I have tried setting to small (actually THX/Normal is the "small"...

    Subwoofer placement question

Todd K, I recently had a similar setup question and the nice folks at SVS (Tom V.) sent me this email response. Hope your setup works out as well. Tom, I have had my PB10 for a couple of months now and am very pleased. I have tried a few locations with varied results. Currently I am using...

Convince me to buy an SVS PB10-ISD.

Go for it! I have my PB10 set up with some front speakers (JBL S312II) that also have some good bass. The PB10 added a whole new dimension to HT and music. Especially after I relocated it. See copy of recent emails from Tom V. below: Tom, I have had my PB10 for a couple of months now and am...

Thought on Jbl Studio series and where 2 get some....

Tough luck Scott>c re: wife not liking the 312's. I have SCenters for Center/CB, the S26's for SL/SR, and alternate between the S38's and S312's for fronts (using the 38's for HT and the 312's for music). I like the 38's for HT but it is no contest with the 312's for music. The 38's are just not...

    2-channels Listening

I posted a similar situation last week re: JBL "S38II and S312II breakin". I have yet to get my S38's (large bookshelf) to come even close to sounding as full or as good as my S312's (towers), with or without the SVS PB10 sub running. They are both 3way, have the same 1" tweeters and 4" mid's...

    S38II and S312II breakin?

Greg, thanks for your input. I am not sure if it is mid-bass or what that is missing but I can describe it best by the instrument playing. Example: a rim-shot on a snare drum has a solid "thwap" on the 312's. On the 38's it sounds muffled or muted. Same thing with a conga drum. The differences...

    S38II and S312II breakin?

Thanks for the reply James and Hank. In response; I expected they would sound different, what surprised me is how much different. The 38's are not even close to the fullness and depth of the 312's. Hank, I tried setting the fronts to large but that seemed to only boost the bass on the 312's. It...

    JBL decision - comments please

fraula, it is tough for me to compare them since I previously only used the 4412 as a center with a pair of 4425's for fronts, and a different amps/pre-amp setup. I am now using the S312II for the fronts and an Scenter. Both the 4412 and S312 will handle a lot of power and sound very clear/crisp...

    S38II and S312II breakin?

After reading most of the threads re: the JBL S38II and S312II I am not clear about breakin. I have been using the 312's for fronts and 38's for surrounds for about 4 months now. I recently added an SVS PB10 and moved my S26II to the surrounds. After doing some A/B comparisons (in stereo mode)...

    JBL decision - comments please

"Carter, i know this dosnt help you, but i also have a kenwood 6070 and have been toying with the idea of a seperate 2 channel amp for my mains, what were you planning on going with? im just curious." I managed to hold onto an old NAD power amp. I think it is a 300W "Power Envelope", whatever...

    JBL decision - comments please

I sold my house with the audio/video equipment - JBL 4425's (LF/RF), 4412 (center) and smaller JBL, LB/RB surround (not sure what model) all driven with seperate amps (lots of power). Used an Audio Pro (not sure of the model but it was big and had two 8" subs) for HT use. I listened to music a...
