Reviving a neglected HTPC - what's the latest/greatest BluRay software

After a year of neglect and a couple years of stasis before that, I'm finally reviving my Win7 Media PC for BluRay playback. Everything is up and running with HDMI, AnyDVD, and (technically) functional playback. However, I'm currently using a 3+ year old version of ArcSoft Total Media Theater...

    Las Vegas: music replacement?

I listened to the commentary on the pilot last night, and during the opening credits Gary Thompson mentions that the Elvis song was "horribly expensive" to get for that sequence just for the pilot. So I can kind of understand why it was replaced on the rest of the episodes on the DVD. I'm more...

Mp3's and internet radio --> home audio system?

I use a Turtle Beach Audiotron for this purpose. I've had it for more than a year, and I'm VERY attached to it. I don't use the streaming radio, but it has that capability. And once I figured out that it required the mp3s in a specifically named directory on the computer, it was very easy to set...

Is this a receiver or speaker problem?

Well, changing the center speaker seems to have helped at least some. I just swapped it with a surround for now. I didn't really think of trying that sooner because all the speakers are the same. Guess it's time to look into a new center speaker for now and replace the front and surrounds over...

Is this a receiver or speaker problem?

I THINK I've got this in the right forum, if not hopefully it will be moved by a kindly mod. I noticed about 6 months ago (and completely by accident) that I was getting not-great quality sound from my HT. Mostly what I noticed was that upon putting a recently watched DVD into my laptop (with...

    I can't stand theaters....

I hear ya. I went to the theater last weekend for the first time in at least 6 months. With the window to DVD being fairly short these days, I much prefer to just wait until I can own the movie, watch it, rewind to catch the plot points I missed, pause to get popcorn, then finish up with special...

I found a site that rates commentaries - can you help update it?

Very handy site. Certainly one I'll be coming back to often. I even found a few movies I own that I had forgotten had commentaries waiting to be watched.

    Ncis ???

I would LOVE a dvd release of this series. In fact, with last week's announcement of Without A Trace, this is the only remaining show I need. Thanks for the reminder that I need to go to tvshowsondvd.com and vote for it.

Looking for a nice DVD changer for under $300, found two, Onyko 701 and Denon 1815.

Check the thread a few posts down about "What's a good multi-disc changer for under $300," there's a bit of discussion going on there about which to get. Personally, I really like my Onkyo CP701. I picked it up in silver from JandR.com for $229 to go with my new Panasonic widescreen. The...

What's a good Multi-disc DVD Player for $300 or less?

George-It doesn't look like the DV-CP701 allows you to change the aspect ratio, but it does allow you to turn off progressive scan. That produced noticable changes in picture quality for me, but that might be related to my TV's abilities, so it might be fine for you.

What's a good Multi-disc DVD Player for $300 or less?

Lanny-Onkyo makes a 6-disc dvd changer, model DV-CP701 in black or silver. I picked one up last week to go with my new widescreen TV and I like it very much. I was a little worried because I had seen some reviews stating that it added a green tint to the picture, but mine has great picture...

    Panasonic PT47WX54 at Costco

I picked one of these sets up about a week ago after lots of searching and comparing. Made a few minor adjustments out of the box, and haven't run the AVIA settings disc yet, but I love this tv. In case you're searching and can't find info, it appears it's actually the same as a PT47WX53, which...

    RP56 vs Sony 985

Al-have you tried searching the forums by the full model number DVP-CX985V? I was considering this player, and found lots of info, looks like a nice unit, but a little too big for me right now. Just an FYI on the search so you have a little something to read till someone replies. :) Meghan.

    RCA 52" RPTV and pulldown

Hmm. I knew the Panasonic hadn't scored well for Consumer Reports, but all the info I've found from people who own them says they are great. The RCA gets much more mixed reviews from owners, but I didn't realize it scored worst from Consumer reports. After spending a good portion of the rest...

    RCA 52" RPTV and pulldown

I am planning on picking up a new tv this weekend, and after learning way more than I planned to about televisions, I have a question specific to the RCA D52W20 currently on sale at Circuit City. The only thing stopping me from purchasing this set instead of the 47" Panasonic is that I can't...
