I just started - well actually just about finished on my home theatre room update... my last piece of the puzzle is a decent "middle of the road" sub woofer. Since I have a couple hundred extra dollars from Cirecuit City and Amazon I'd like to buy from them - these are my choices * DefTech...
I'm not familiar with that series.... BUT I agree with the sales person as long as: - you have a good clean yet powerful amp or AVr (which I'll assume you do as those speakers are not "cheap" - you have the space for a big center channel - the drivers in the older design are similar...
I'm looking at the Def-Tech Pro Cinema kit 600 which I can get a good deal on now at Best Buy with the 12% coupon or I can buy this kit from Focal: Focal SIBSYSB Sib 525W 5.1-Channel Surround Sound System at $200 more then the Pro 600 my question is do you think the $200 is worth it...
what issue do you have? the fluttering noise or the naming issue? if its the "name" thing - I don't think so, as i think the unit uses the standard default names then once you land on it for a set time it will then switch to your name. which to me is pointless to have input naming - no?
I actually sent the SR7001 back... I also noticed while watching movies from my Toshiba HD DVD player that there was a louder fluttering noise as the I turned up the volume. That and I had some weird sync issues with the PS3. So I am looking at the Pioneer still but don't really know what...
I just installed a new Marantz SR7001 - which sounds as good as it looks. Having issues that after renaming the inputs. When you go thru the inputs selections it shows the factory name for about 5-10 seconds which is well annoying. I guess this is a trivial issues but after spending this much...
Does anyone have one of these newer Sony receivers? Been looking at this unit along with the Denon 2807 and Yamaha 1700 -- both are more then I wanted to spend plus I'd like to buy authorized. This AVR will be used solely for home theater use (D* HR20 STB, Xbox 360, PS3 - HDMI feeding a A2000...
*** Update *** Our new JVC was delivered today :-) But it appears to have a clump of dead "pixels" which I assumed LCoS didn't have that problem??? Also black levels seem very poor and heavy amounts of artifacts during action types of scenes? Compared to our older Panasonic LCD RPTV...
I'm looking to buy a 52-56" RPTV for our living/theatre room. I have this down to three units: * JVC HD-56FN97 * Samsung HL-S5687W * Mits WD-52631 The room is a un-used 3rd bedroom that is our primary TV/Movie/Game room its small about 12x15. My desire is great HD quality of TV...
Bill -- great question I did hear them at two differnt stores; the 703 at Circuit City and the 2500 at Tweeter. So as you may already be thinking not a fair match :-) And you would be correct :-) I brought both home and used my own equipment (I know its "wrong" to return but...) I...
good point that HK 7300 looks great but well over twice my budget at the moment. so far the onkyo 703 seems to be a great value (at least at the $499 I paid) PLUS sounds almost as good as the yamha 2500 (maybe its the lack of dsp's? but the 703 is equal if not a tad behind) thx all -...
*** Update *** I did bring bring back the Pioneer and was going to keep the Yamaha it just sounds so clean. When I was returning the pioneer to circuit city something drew me to the back where they keep the rest of the AVR's and what do I see on sale. An Onkyo 703b brand new for only...
LOL - so true! The pannasonic avr I have also has worn spring clips (I used some of those speaker wire tines I thought it would be easier and better but I messed them up) so every few weeks one of the rears or center channel would stop working - i assume from slight movents in my rack??? I...
I have been looking to replace my old faithful panasonic xr55 amp with a newer better avr. I love the size and sound of the xr55 but want more flexible options with connections. with that said I pulled the trigger the other day on a yamaha left over rx-v2500 (brand new in box from tweeter)...
nope the Deco setup still cuts out after about 30 minutes pending volume level. I do love the sound of the Deco's though :-) I messed around with the settings and no go. I do have some room for air above the Panny about 3-4 inches and that is only about the size of a DVD spine - then...
I'm sorry -- I ment to say I hooked up my old speakers (which I don't care for) This setup is used only for TV and Movies. And I do have dynamic turned off.
thanks guys... it says overload The A/D is set to off (with it on the unit sounds "muted" which is what the name of the option is no? And F/C/S are all set to small with a x-over of 100Hz I hooked up my speakers and they play just fine (except I don't like them)
UPDATE... good afternoon all. Well the Deco's came in and I love them! Sound is crisp but not to harsh. Vocals are great (is a little week on some male voices but not bad). And well the Sub is all Velodyne find it odd that it is a sealed sub though - i figured with 600 wats rms it would...
update -- i bought the deco setup for a good deal imho $576 shipped. hopfully I made the correct choice :-/ john i'll let you all know what happens next
nope no dealers that sell the deco - CC has a demo that doesn't work and will sell it to me for $950 LOL (it does work but they will not set it up) again thanks and keep the sugestions coming :-)
Nhan - have you seen the HSu V speaker set? I though the same thing untill I saw them. the speakers used looked and felt like the ones in my dads first a 1960 something american :-) no movement and the case looked cheap? Rest - I have found onlyy two reviews on the velodyne deco's all...
hmmm isn't Bose Mountain in MA? :-) LOL yeah the deco was even better yesturday at $499.97 oh well you snooze you loose :-( my only concern with the deco was two fold the low 4ohm drivers and my digital panny? and are they not effiecnt enogh for a digital amp?
good advise from each of you :-) yesturday I stopped by a Compusa that had some speakers left and saw the hsu ventriloquist set. price seemed too cheap at $129 for the set (no sub). but it seemed that bose's cubes were built better as the hsu set had no tweeter not even in the center. I...
