I would hope the image quality will be as good as the excellent Image Ent dvds. I would rather that Image still had the rights to Naked City. Considering what they have done for Dick Van Dyke and Twilight Zone on blu, Naked City is a show I'd love to see high deffed.
ITV 4 are screening 2 episodes of Batman daily here in the UK. Is it me or have these prints been DNRed to death. Although the picture is clean there is no depth or detail at any point. I do hope these are not HD masters made for a potential DVD or BD release.
The Sweeney Season 1 blu ray is 1080p at 24fps. There has been much online debate about whether it should have been 1080i and 25fps like the original broadcast, but it is def 24fps.
Anyone else noticed that there is no sign of Pete Duel on the front cover of the new 11 disc Complete series box.

Now I have nothing against Roger Davis but the show was at its most popular with the...
If the quality of the dvds are so good then they would benefit from blu.
All the filmed retro TV shows I have on blu are incomparable with their dvd counterparts. The blu of the original Star Trek or The Prisoner is astounding.
I love esponiage shows, especially the glamorous filmed shows of the 60s and 70s. Here's my top then of the moment:
1. The Prisoner
2. Mission Impossible
3. I Spy
4 The Man from UNCLE
5. Callan
6. Man in a Suitcase
7. Danger Man
8. Alias
9. The Champions
10. Search
Now that Warner Archive have started delivering blu ray (in pressed small quanitities), I am excited that the thought that some TV properties might make to an HD format.
I might have thought that the original Hawaii Five-O would be a shoo in for a blu ray release. CBS have HDed most of the episodes and it would be an excellent tie in with the popular remake, available on blu.
Blu ray opportunities might include:
An opportunity to release "Bored She Hung...
The original Outer Limits I would buy on blu in a heartbeat.
I reckon Millennium may be a possible blu in the future. I think Fox will be thinking of future proofing their archive for the future of HD only television. X Files and Millennium play regularly on HD channels in the UK, albeit in an...
I wrote to VEI President Jeff Sprigg and he replied by email to say that the Canadian blu ray is 4 x 3. I have read no confirmation elsewhere (ie amazon.ca or any reviews there) but would appreciate hearing from anyone in Canada who can confirm, deny or review.
I got an email from Jeff Sprigg at VEI informing me the version available in Canada is the 4:3 version. It's 16:9 in the US version. Orders from amazon.ca should be 4:3 and it does say so in the product description.
My understanding is that the entire ITC library has been remastered in HD already. As all the shows were made on film (mostly in 35 mm) then they have a longer shelf life and are still popular. The forward thinking spirit of Lew Grade lives on.
I believe we will see S2 of Space 1999 released...
Arena is a great episode. It's brilliantly directed and the move from cosy-friendlyness of thew atmosphere in the transporter room to surprise and immediate battle stations when they arrive on the planet surface, is one of my favourite ST moments.
Some great Shatner action moves too.
I imagine that it is likely that Jerry B is looking to maximize his investment in shows that aren't running any more by getting them out on dvd. The MOD programmes have made it possible for non-big hitter shows to be distributed in smaller runs than would be needed in a full release. The recent...
The HDification of their back catalogue is extremely heartening. I suspect that blu ray will be in the offing after they have got us all to shell out for the dvds.
It's a shame that Image are no longer the rights holders here. They seem to be showing classic TV a great deal of Blu-Ray interest and if they still had these, I'd dare to dream.
I also really liked the relationship between Paul Burke and Nancy Malone. The way they play that relationship is believable.
The moment in Prime of Life when it cuts from the action scene of the rooftop gunfight to the quiet of the execution room and Adam's screaming out because he was elsewhere...
"Prime of Life" is one of my favourites. It had a profound effect on me when I saw it last year. The way they expose how Adam's thought patterns become stressed in anticipation of the execution is excellent.
The Forms of Things Unknown from The Outer Limits. It has levels of avante-garde wonderfulness and an atmosphere I have never felt in anything else. Amazing cinematography, fabulous music and a great cast.
Hello All
Jeff has sent me an email with a screen capture comparison to show how little quality is being lost by encoding the whole series to one disc. Has anybody else here had the email?
