I thought my HT was great so far with an older 7.1 system. Ideally adding additional ceiling speakers to immerse my family and friends in a sound rich world that would allow them to experience a virtual reality of extreme proportions. Yup, that would be ideal.
Nothing wrong with the H/K and Klipsch match, what is nice about Klipsch speakers is the small amount of wattage they need to produce amazing sound. This allows you to drop back on the power of the amp and save some dough for the other necessities.
Hi MarkWC, I recently borrowed one of the LT240K projectors and found it to be a very bright machine. I was using it from about 12 ft from the screen with seating at about 15 ft, so you should have plenty of light at the 20 ft mark. I did notice some dithering, but I was only able to view...
The chairs look a little over stuffed and soft. Need to sit in them, before I would purchase. The lazy-boys are about 625.00 each for microfiber, so at those prices you are getting one free. I thought I saw the red version over at a local Sofa Express and they were priced about the same as the...
Rutgar, Yes, black leather and black fabric. I was just recently at a local La-z-boy furniture gallery. The chairs are quite comfortable and I found them a little better than the Berk line and Lane versions.
I have been searching for some theaterish-looking carpet, something with a design, swirls or something, to put in the basement ht. Haven't found too many choices, most dealers only carry "normal" home carpeting. I did find a dark green popcorn/reel design. Anyone having luck finding this type of...
Your audio looks fine, so enjoy the high end of things. The extra features such as HDCP, higher contrast and lumens, pixels for HD, will make for a great show.
I purchased Punch Home Design Suite for about $59 quite a while ago. Program has a few quirks, but pretty easy to understand and you can throw together a room in a few minutes. You can also add furniture, screens and render the full room view in 3-D, You can fly over or walk through the rooms...
Yes, projector people has some decent prices/free shipping and such. The only thing I noticed was when browsing their link - .http://www.dealtime.com/dealtime2000...0.html?from=sr There were a couple of unhappy campers over at dealtime and only 10 ratings total. Thanks for the input...
Since you only notice it during movies, it is a normal feature of movies that the surrounds are not always used. They will cut out but not dramatically, depends a lot on what the director wanted you to hear. Try running a cd through all channels with a digital processing setting on the amp. If...
Ah, I now understand what true love is. Still looking at bare walls & can't find a contractor that has a clue. But, 2 years does not sound so bad after seeing that room. I needed that inspiration, to continue on my quest. Thanks, Mac
Have been researching front projectors, looks like I will need to purchase on line. Just wondering if anyone has had a good/bad experience from any of the on line sites. Looking for a site with a good return policy, no restocking fee, reasonable prices and just all around good service. Can...
This may be your TV manual... Manual? Don't see anything about turning off speakers and such, but there is a strange note on page 24 that... If you are using a mono device, use only the audio L/Mono jack. If a dummy jack is plugged into the audio R, no sound will be heard. ??
Some televisions (like RCA) have software configurations that enable or disable output on the video and sound jacks. Sounds like you have tied the sound output of your TV to your receiver input, but have no sound through the receiver-speakers. So either your TV is not sending a signal, or the...
The Nec LT240K projector was a blast, even in an unfinished basement that was a little on the cool side. The whites were blinding at times on a temporary blackout cloth. Of course this machine is 2000 lumens, where most are in the 1000 range for ht. Looks like I may need to move the machine back...
Randy, that room looks pretty large to me, it is about 1 ft longer & wider than mine. I am hoping to place a ceiling mount fp in the high portion of the ceiling, but I will need a really short throw projector to have a 100" screen. I don't think this will end up being a head knocker. Can I...
Adam and Jason, thank you for the input. There is a lot to think about, so I am going slowly (although the wife is ready to get quotes, but that's ok I can delay). I will definately check out the magazine, and the acoustics, also nice pics Jason. As far as sound entering the room, since...
Well, the plan is starting to come together. I have worked on the layout and have done some 3D rendering which I will post soon. Here the layout so far... I will try out a Nec LT240K projector (borrow) this weekend, just to see if the desired locations are within reason. Mac
The only reason I don't think the price is being held high by patent rights, is that the rptv's which use the exact same technology, are priced at the same level as the LCD's at about .0038 cents/pixel.
I second the Klipsch (or is that third), but I would describe the sound as "live" as compared to others. Depends alot on those funny looking things on the side of your head.
I think you should support your local Hi-Fi/Audio shops, the good ones usually spend a lot of time learning the features of the equipment and stand by their sales. This way you keep the money in the local economy, and you can always bring in the internet price and see how close they will come...
OK, I am convinced, I am writing my congressmen to suggest a couple of new laws. First, no one is allowed to purchase a new 16x9 tv until they have spent at least 15 minutes watching a 2.35:1 movie in its pure form. If the salesman does not demo this, then you receive a check for the price...
Brent, yes you are correct the AVS forum has a wealth of information on screens. From what I read the DIY method seems to save quite a bit of cash and will probably be the method I choose as I have other equipment I would like to put the $ into. A lot of references to the material being sold on...
Yes, I just got a demo of the VPL-HS20 Sony projector at my ht dealer. They had a demo DVD playing at 480p and while some scenes looked very good, others were quite dim. I asked about the brightness one day, and the sales guy stated that the bulb had a lot of hours on it and needed to be...
Next couple of year's, once everyone has the 16x9 format the movie mogul's will start filming in 4.7:1 format, how else can they get people to the theaters and also to buy new equipment ? :>) Boy those theaters will be looooong.
Lou, I guess I should be more specific. If I choose wxga or 1280 x 720, the dlp starting price at projectorcentral.com is $6000.00 and up (some way up). Now if I do the same search for fp lcd, the starting price for the same resolution is about $2500.00 On the other hand if I look at the...
