Aren't they limited by what's "legally" available though? I was under the impression they were given a list of "approved" songs and had to choose from those. If there's nothing on the list that's appropriate then you're in trouble.
It's possible I suppose, but I consider the sound-mix on the DVD a flaw. People that had never seen the episode would wonder what the heck is going on.
My complaint wasn't so much about the subject matter of Schwartz' commentary, but that it was rather dry and too redundant with what had been said in the included documentary. I think the set would have been far better served having the Brady kids doing a 3rd commentary for the pilot episode...
One "flaw" I noticed while going through the DVDs -- the tag for "To Move or Not to Move". There is a key sound effect (well, two sound effects) that - I'm guessing because of the way the audio is mixed on this DVD - is barely audible. As such, it appears as though Carol is reacting to nothing...
I was looking specifically at kitchen scenes - at the metal frying pan for example. Nothing. Could this be a byproduct of your video equipment somehow?
I haven't noticed the shimmering either and I was looking for it especially. I did notice patches with poor video quality -- sad but you work with what you've got I guess. I found Sherwood Schwartz commentary to be rather boring and repeated much of what he said in the included documentary...
I wonder if they'll release the 5th season along with the other 4, given it aired on a different network (CBS as opposed to NBC). The reason I ask is that I haven't seen the 5th season in syndication. That's the season where Larraby took over from the Chief (Ed Platt left the show) and Max and...
That's how I intend to watch it. I recall something similar happened when the Flintstones Season One dvd set came out. It's probably not a big deal either way. After all, ordering it by air date WAS how people originally saw the show.
One thing that does concern me -- the review on DVD Talk (http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=14561) discusses the picture quality, saying that at times (especially with earlier episodes) it's not that good. I have the set of Brady Bunch videocassetes put out by Columbia House in the 90s...
It appears the order of the first 7 episodes (on the 1st DVD) are in the following order, based on the one menu screen: 1. The Honeymoon 2. Dear Libby 3. Eenie Meenie, Mommy Daddy 4. Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore 5. Katchoo 6. A Clubhouse is not a Home 7. Kitty Carry-All is Missing...
And another review -- this one has pictures INCLUDING screen-shots of the DVD menus. And a contest to win a free set! http://www.millionaireplayboy.com/en...radybunch1.php
There is also a review at dvdtalk.com. I've watched the first 3 episodes - it looks great so far, altho I'd be interested in finding out what has been cut out of these shows for syndication purposes. nyrB
I'm guessing Willy the strong-man (Peter Lupis). But it's kind of an odd question. In the later seasons they had any number of IMF members going in and out -- were they ALL shown smoking?
I'm confused -- all the literature I've read says there's 29 audio commentaries but I only count 28. Is there some hidden "easter egg" commentary, was one of the commentaries removed for some reason, or did they just miscount?
I agree with Dave - I loved Sesame St. as a kid but 20 Bert & Ernie bits in a row would just bore me. Much better to have "best of" compilations that mix things similarly to the way they are on the actual shows. And don't forget the Joe Raposo songs!
Cliff - according to the official Freaks and Geeks website, the regular version of this set streets in the U.S. this week, but not until April 27th in Canada. If you ordered the special set you should get it earlier (I'm in Canada and I received my set in the mail yesterday).
Personally I quit watching after they adoped Seven or Six or whatever they called him. But it's all personal preference. I'm sure there's shows you can think of that you liked the first few seasons but not the final ones (or vice versa). This is especially true if you're on a buget as...
For me it totally depends on the show. For shows like the Simpsons - yea I want all the seasons. For shows like M*A*S*H* - well I only really liked the first few seasons (with Henry Blake) so why would I buy seasons I didn't care about? There's so many shows that wind up "jumping the shark"...
An *extremely* comprehensive review of the 8-disc fan edition of this set has now been posted on dvdtalk.com for anyone interested in finding out exactly what's included. STILL no word on whether the 28-page booklet (to be released with the regular set) will be included in the fan edition (the...
Does anybody know if the 28-page booklet that comes with the regular set is also included with the collector's edition? Or is this material incorporated into the "yearbook"?
