    Cambridge Soundworks P300HD

If anyone has any experience with the Cambridge Soundworks P300HD subwoofer, please do share as I'm thinking of picking up one. Its MSRP is $1,000. It's on sale now for $600. Is it a good buy? Which other subs in the

(Help) Subwoofer Setup for Center Channel

Thanks for your reply, Gene. Well, I wanted to try that because I want to move the sub closer the cc speaker. Right now it's closer to where I sit. Since I'm going to add another sub, I thought that I might as well do something like that to get more impact out of the center channel. But...

(Help) Subwoofer Setup for Center Channel

If I want to run a subwoofer for the center channel only, how do I do that? Do I need to run line level input to the sub, then line level again from the sub to the center chanel speaker? Thanks in advance for any help.

    The Existence of hometheaterforum.com...

JohnSmith, The point of my post? Well, I did say that I was just giving my 2 cents, didn't I? Please remember, I didn't put down SVS subs, nor did I try to. I didn't say one bad word about 'em. I bet they're EXCELLENT subs for the PRICE, and more. And I still won't own one...

    The Existence of hometheaterforum.com...

Is purely for the promotion of SVS subs. Am I correct? If I'm wrong, well...That's the impression I have on this forum. Any threads with "SVS" in the Subject line will get responses. Threads about other subwoofer brands mostly go ignored. It's either other forum members are clueless about...

For the money, the HSU STF-2 won't disappoint you. I am a very happy owner myself. ;)

are those power conditioners really worth it?

I have the HTS5100. I do see/hear some improvement, but it's not very significant. I bought it for the peace-of-mind and coolness factors more than anything. It's one helluva solid and hefty "powerstrip," though - if you want to call it a powerstrip.

    Denon 3805 v. Onkyo tx-nr900

I was in the same situation just about two months ago. I was looking at the same two receivers you're looking at now. IMO, both receivers have plenty of power to drive any speaker setup for home theater. For the kind of money they go for, they HAD better be powerful enough. I was going to go...

    Subwoofer help

Cam, the dimensions of the P1000 are only 16 x 15 x 14. That's a pretty compact enclosure, hence the 45 lbs., I think. I actually think that it's hefty enough for that box size. Both the HSU STF-2 (I currently own) and Mirage MS12 (used to own) are considerably bigger than the P1000, but they...

    Bose Info

If you MUST have a sub/sat system, Cambridge Soundworks products are a much, much better alternative to Bose. They can out perform any Bose system for much less money. Luckily, I did a lot of research before putting together my home theater or I would have had a Bose system now. I was once...

    What Subwoofer Does Everybody Have?

I currently have an Earthquake Supernova MKIV 10" and a HSU STF-2. I used to have a Mirage MS12. Like Rutgar, that new Velodyne sub is my "dream sub." I read about it in some home theater magazine 2 weeks ago. There was even a pic in the magazine, showing the frequency response graph on a TV...

    $600 Subwoofer Shoot-Out: SVS PB1-ISD vs. Hsu STF-3 – Test & Review

Cam, much kudos to you for being brave enough to open that Pandora's box. :emoji_thumbsup: It may sound corny and after-the-fact now, but I did have the same question you had when I was reading this thread. I didn't dare to ask that question, though, for fear of being basically "gang-banged"...

    How do you pronounce Hsu?

If you thought "Hsu" was hard to pronounce, try "Ng"!:D I'd always been puzzled as to how "Ng" should be pronounced everytime I saw it, but now I know. ;) Note: I'm talking about just "Ng," not the common Vietnamese surname "Nguyen." :)

    Matching Home Theater Speakers

I skimmed through some home theater magazine at a bookstore yesterday and saw an article on Noel Lee, the "Head Monster" at Monster Cable. The article said that he's an engineer before he founded the company. He's also a guitarist. The man is obviously a multi-millionaire now. So I think it's...

Considering purchasing the Velodyne CHT-12 12" Subwoofer, opinions wanted.

Matt, Go to your nearest CompUSA and pick up the HSU STF-2 sub!!! It's right in your price range at $349.99. I just bought one and I've found out that the STF-2 does live up to all the positive comments and reviews. I gotta warn you, though: it looks ugly. If you don't care about looks but...

    HSU coupon?

After having read/heard so many rave reviews about the HSU subs and after having learned that I can pick up the STF-2 at a local CompUSA, I decided to check it out in-store and see for myself what all this hype is about. At first sight, the STF-2 looked ugly. The enclosure looked cheap and...

Wow...CompUSA carries HSU subs now? What's next? OfficeMax or Staples is gonna carry SVS subs? Anyway, how good is the STF-2? Which other brand name sub and which price range is it comparable to?

    Household voltage question

Thanks to everyone who has given me inputs and suggestions. I finally found out why I got those turn-on thumps after pulling out and plugging in those power cables hundreds of times. Since I had to buy another power center, I decided to get the HTS-2600 so I could test out everything...

Did I hook up my DVD-Audio correctly?

Yup, for SACD and DVD-A, you'll have to use 3 pairs of analog RCA cables. I just replaced an Onkyo TX-DS797 with an Onkyo TX-NR900. I believe the setup is the same for all Onkyo receivers. So in order to get SACD/DVD-A sound from your Onkyo 898, you'll have to select "multichannel" in "Input"...

    My modest home theater pics

Those cables! You gotta do something about them. Also, please get a decent (read: big enough) A/V stand for all of your equipment. Nice setup. Btw, when has "Rotel" become synonymous with "modest"? :)

    Music 'versus' Film?

I think I'm getting dumber after having read this thread in its entirety...:frowning: AFAIK, debating about what certain sounds should sound like is academic. Like how it's been pointed out, our ears are all different (shapes, long vs. short ear canals, how much ear wax there is, the ability...

    Household voltage question

Kevin, there's no "subwoofer" outlet on my HTS5100 - or any other Monster Cable power center for the matter as I've checked them all out at a local Tweeter store. I actually plugged it in the "spare" outlet and set a switched delay (20 sec) on it. Anyway, since this turn-on thump has driven...

    Household voltage question

Well, I just got a Monster Cable line conditioner as well. It's the MP-HTS5100. The voltage readout on my unit also displays between 115v and 118v. I have yet to see it go outside of that range. I was going to create another thread for my following question, but since we have this thread here...

    Suggestions for Audio interconnects

I have a bunch of Monster Cable and Straightwires interconnect of different grade levels (from bottom end to mid level for both brands). Help!!!

Thanks for your input, Ed. Here's what I tried. I unplugged the two subwoofers and the receiver from the HTS2600 and plugged them all into another cheapo (~$20) Monster Cable powerstrip/surge protector. I turned the receiver on and there was no thump. The hum was still there, but it's quieter...

    Help!!!

My home theater is driving me nuts. Please help... I used to have a cheap (~$50 some 5-6 yrs ago) surge protector/powerstrip made by Archer that I bought at Radio Shack. Earthquake Supernova MKIV 10

Stereophile magazine gave a good review (AAA) on the Earthquake Supernova MKIV 15 (15" driver/passive radiator). Since the MKIV 15 is out of my reach and may be a little too much for my small room (12' x 16' x 8'), I decided to get the MKIV 10, which has 10" a driver and 10" passive radiator...
