    Can't recommend TV Authority

brady_2427 & MarkMu- After being referred to this thread, I went and double checked that both of your refunds had been done -they have been issued. I am sorry for the repeated problems, lack of information, lack of communication and everything else that you encountered. I know its a day...

BenQ and TV Authority Announce Special Event featuring the BenQ PE8720

I'll be bringing our Seattle staff down for the event and we hope to see many of our Home Theater Forum customers there. I think you'll find this to be a very informal but informative event and its a great opportunity to check out the PE8720 along with several other projectors we have on...

    InFocus 4805 TVAuthority Q&A

Andy, You can still use the ceiling mount even if you have a drop ceiling. You attach the ceiling plate to your structural ceiling and then using extension piping to drop down through the ceiling tile to the required height needed to project correctly to the screen. Another option we offer is...

    InFocus 4805 TVAuthority Q&A

Hi everyone, I wanted to address the fan noise that was mentioned in a couple of the posts. You can adjust the fan speed by selecting "settings" within the menu and then checking "low power". This will of course lower the lumen output but at least in the case of my own 4805, significantly...

Found some good deals for projectors on ebay but...

Just check out the sellers ratings and remember if it's too good to be true- it probably is. Keep in mind, you can buy a brand new NEC HT410 that ends up being $995 after the $200 mail in rebate. This would offer superior image quality than these older projectors. Just make sure whatever you...

NEC HT 410 or Infocus 4805?

Hi Richard. We're also a forum sponsor and carry both projector lines. While the HT410 is a good entry level model and with the rebate, a nice price - the 4805 is a better projector in my opinion. The overall PQ looks better and the 4805 includes a digital connection which isn't offered on the...

Very novice question about DLP projectors

Eric- I guess I should clarify the 4805 rebate. The special pricing has ended but there is still a rebate for a free 76" screen and 30' S-video cable when you purchase the projector. This doesn't end until March 31st.

Very novice question about DLP projectors

Eric- the Costco deal ended on SuperBowl Sunday (we had offered it as well). NEC still has a rebate going for the 410 but they don't offer a screen as part of the deal. If you are L.A., come on down to our showroom and we'll let you demo several comparable models that we carry and you can decide...

Where to buy DLP projectors online?

John- We are a forum sponsor (TV Authority) and carry several front projector product lines. We are fully authorized by the manufacturer for the products we sell. I'm sure other members can provide feedback on us(I'm probably a little biased :).

    Infocus 7210

Austin, What type of of sources to plan to use with the projector? You'd probably be happy with either the Sharp or InFocus - I have more direct experience with InFocus since we are a ScreenPlay dealer. All will give you excellent picture quality but you'd see some differences in contrast &...

    Upgraded from X1 to a 4805!

Welcome to the club! I couldn't agree more with your comments. HD scaled looks great on the 4805.

    Another 4805 purchaser

    Have fun, its a great projector - Halo2 is a blast on my 4805 & 106" screen.

Buying new TV, looking to spend under 2500

Mike, Samsung continues to be our #1 brand for DLP TV's and customers have been very satisfied with the performance of the '63 series. DLP is brighter than a traditional CRT and offers a smaller footprint. Definitely no burn in issues and vs. LCD rear projection DLP offers better color...

    Recommendations on Projector

Have you thought about putting up black out curtains? I also have a multipurpose room and while I live in Western Washington- I still have a few bright sunny days :) Most of the hoem theater projectors are right around the same brightness (1000- 1500 ANSI lumens). A couple of recommendations...

CD player or Laptop for front projector

What projector is it? I'm sure it will have standard video inputs (at least composite). It shouldn't be a problem to use your DVD player, i'd try to connect via S-video (round, 4-pin connector) cable which will provide a better picture than composite (single RCA plug). The protable DVD option...

    projectors optoma vs sp infocus

Chris, We are a retailer for both product lines - I choose the 4805 for my own theater room. For the price, it really performs better than anything else I've demo'd. If you take advantage of the Costco deal, you'll be recieving a phenomenal deal that quite frankly, none of the other retailers...

Would you buy a DLP RP mailorder?

Dennis, Our company selects many of these DLP TV's for our 5 Star Program which does provide a 30 day return period. Most legitimate mail order/etailers will swap out defective product so its really not that different that if you purchased from your local store. What is different is that...

    JVC 52Z575 on the way!!!

Congratulations Scott! It's a great TV and I know you'll thoroughly enjoy watching sports in HD (I do!). The customers that have purchased a D-ILA TV from continue to rave about the picture whenever we check in with them. It does sound like the DLP may not have been calibrated properly or could...

    Opinions of In Focus SP5000

Josh, first the disclaimer: my company is a ScreenPlay dealer (and forum sponsor. The SP5000 is a good projector and if HD is what you'll primarily be viewing, this is a good choice for the price. I also really like the Panasonic PT-AE700U which is slighly more expensive but well worth it. You...

    Projector under $1800

Christo, so you'll only be connecting to a computer? What type of content will you be displaying? Computer applicationa or video over PC? Is there a reason you only want a 50" screen? Consideration should be things such as the projector resolution to match your source, brightness to support your...

    Would an InFocus 4805 be overkill in a 13' X 13' bedroom?

Kenneth, a few things to consider. Will you be ceiling mounting this projector? Let's assume you mount it 12' from the screen on the opposite wall. This is from the front of the lens so you'll be fairly close to the back wall (you may end up having to move it a little closer). A 12' throw...

pros and cons; trading in a Tosh 52hm84 for jvc HD-ILA 52in?

If you found the dithering too noticeable on the 52HM84 then I think you'll prefer D-ILA. The primary drawback is contrast- the blacks won't be as good as DLP but still decent. The pixels on the JVC will be less visible and the picture is smoother.

Do you really have to bring a Plasma TV to the nearby Gas Station for refills BB?

Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated incident with Best Buy. Several industry trade journals have documented similar experiences with Best Buy and other retail chains providing bogus information on plasma displays. There are pros & cons with all of these display technologies but plasma is a...

    Projector problem

Hi Andy, It is entirely possible to have 2 projectors with the same flaw, it'd be interesting to check the manufacturing dates of each to see if they were built around the same time. They may both be using a video board that was manufactured with this flaw. I'm curious if s-video will produce...

I hate to open this can of worms

Travis, I agree, you'll want to see and test for yourself. A 92" is what I typically recommend for the 4805 for the best results. I actually do have a 106" screen which was in place before purchasing the projector but i am very satisfied with the image quality even at this larger screen size...

    PANNY 7UY vs NEC 42VM5??

Unless you are connecting via S-video, don't let this known issue scare you away. The black levels are still superior to the NEC although this is a also a good panel. If you are leaning towards the NEC, then I suggest the 42VR5- this is the residential version and has a 3 year onsite warranty.

I hate to open this can of worms

I have had a chance to spend time with most of these models and while the newest LCD projectors look fantastic and truly have made improvements in eliminating SDE, I'm still a DLP fan. I own a 4805 and while I wish I had a few more features - it still offers the best overall picture quality for...

    Hitachi PJ-TX100 Vs. Screenplay 4805

We are a dealer for both models and I own a 4805 myself. The PJTX100 has some nice features (specifically motorized iris & lens shift)- what will you be viewing primarily? For me, I'm mostly watching DVD content with the occasional HD program (mostly sports) so I can live with my 4805 scaling...
