I ripped all my cds and movies and put them on a audio/video server that streams them to a tiny HTPC that then shows them on my tv. The CDs ive ripped as MP3s and the videos are mostly ISO rips with some of them as a test to compressed such as Xvid/Divx,ect.
Joe is right. I can recommend what I think sounds good but you might think it sounds like roadkill. Personally I have listened to systems priced more than my house is worth and while they generally are louder than mine, with my hearing they dont sound that much better. Then again my hearing...
RMS Power Bandwidth: The frequency response or range used when determining the built-in amplifier's RMS power rating. Optimal is 20-20,000 Hz, the range of human hearing. Some models provide frequency response ratings for source functions (CD, cassette, etc), but not for the amplifier itself...
you have the perfect remote control already.. its called "the wife" :) actually I would like to know if there is one control that works for all the devices above.. I have a similar setup with equipment that has both IR and RF remotes and havent found a remote that works well with both IR/RF...
http://www.xbox-modchips.com/tutorials/samsung3.pdf Is the guide and drive ive used in the past. works great on every one that ive modded. (including ones with a modchip.) hope that helps
Shrug... I hit the power button on the reciever and start playing immediately. I could see a warmup period if your reciever was tube based... but a modern? nah
HTS760 - Onkyo Dolby® Digital EX/DTS®-ES 6.1-Channel Home Theater System $499.99 for reciever and speakers.. I use this system with my PC also. I actually recommend this as its the Onkyo TX-SR510 with 100w per channel. :)
Scott is that Canadian or US dollars? :D because at a $1.86 US (converted from $2.50 canadian) I can think of plenty of movies here in FL that would hire you. :) heh
all I can say is next time check resellerratings.com and if they have been in business long and still dont showup on resellerratings.. that is a BIG BIG flag to watchout. just my $0.02
you can run semi thin wire under tile.. the bonding agent should be able to handle it. Thicker wire would be a problem. Id do what the others have said about the baseboards.. OR if absolutely necessary put the wire under the edge tile at the edge of the wall.
www.digitalconnection.com/Products/Video/mdp120.asp High-Definition Decoder ATSC Tuner PCI Card looks like $289 for the card and then if you need dvi out another 89 for a daughter card. Quick edit... I dont know about digitalconnection i just googled for HDTV Video Card.. and that came up as...
I usually watch with the tv on. :D Seriously I just decided to get rid of cable after adding up how much cable tv I watched in 2 months = less than 2 hours. Definitely not worth $60 an hour. Too many good dvds is my problem I guess. :)
slow browsing could be a few things including your PC not setup properly. The crashing may be a power issue. Linksys routers in particular are VERY sensitive to power flucuations. UPS with power regulating = necessary
no no no.. Taste. be sure to taste ALL the connections and all buttons on the front. Better tasting = better performance i say (sarcasm sarcasm) BTW if you get one that tastes like Vanilla and cherries.. grab that bad boy and RUN to the door. :)
There are several if you search with google but they are all very expensive. If you were localish to Tampabay area I would do it for you. Im sure there are others here on the board that wouldnt mind helping you out building one.
Interesting.. I have had no AMD issues that were caused by the chip/chipset. I have had driver issues but those would have been there regaurdless of AMD/Intel. I say just use what your familiar with and what works for you. Any Modern CPU (especially the 2ghz+ models) will have enough ummph to...
As per what the others have said besides that Celeron processor the system sounds good. What I have been doing for a few friends is using the Shuttle mini PC systems for home theater on the cheap and D.Vine cases for the nicer ones. The Shuttle AMD64 system = mega power :)
typical of best buy. Where I used to work they had a program where you could turn in work bucks for a gift card. I chose best buy. Well the cashier at BB never seen it before therefore it wasnt valid. and I wont forget any of the gift cards I was supposed to get with the purchase of a TV and...
Hello Fellow Floridian! :) I have had my speakers in storage for 2 years here in FL in an NON A/C storage unit then pulled them out to use them with no issues. I would think the sub in the garage would be fine unless it had actual water/moisture condensing on it. :D Woops quick...
Easy way is to get a wireless router. RR modem connects to back of router instead of the back of your PC like it is now. then you can hook the router WIRED to the back of your pc and the Mac can connect wirelessly to the router if you both download a LOT at the same time you will notice...
Also a good way to measure the quality of the PSU is by the weight. The better ones all feel hefty while the cheapo PSUs are all lightweight. ENERMAX or THERMALTAKE or ANTEC are the better ones that I would always recommend. I personally only use ANTECs. for an AVERAGE Computer I would...
well I have never done a speaker cabinet specifically... BUT, I have done MANY PC cases including some out of wood and the best shiny gloss black I have gotten is with automotive paint. Paint in primer. Sand smooth. Repeat till smooth as possible. Spray color coat. wet sand. Repeat a few...
its the the ATA bus speed that matters (33-66-100-133) its the controller. Some PC bios/ATA controllers cant handle more than 137GB drives. With Macs ive put a 200gig into a G4 before with no trouble. Shrug.
Used are fine for me as long as they arent scratched. My gf likes to do garage sale thing on the weekends so I pick up alot of DVDs cheap that way. Even if no cover/box whatever as long as it isnt scratched up I will get it and slap it into a dvd case and print out a cover for it.
I agree totally in that I think some really do falsify their advertising with bogus claims, yadda yadda 500% improvement in sound (over using 2 paper cups filled with mud and a spool of your grandmothers thread!). :) lol I wish there were quantifable measurements/claims the manufacturers...
JamesDB I have not done any testing with non optical cables in HT applications I for one do not know for certain how much loss there is. Yes I do know the difference is probally in the range of hundredths of a percent. I used larger numbers to prove my point that some people think/believe...
