Steve, Thanks. I thought as much. This thing was a gift to me a couple years ago, and, while it was appreciated, it would not have been something I'd have even considered buying. For $500 more I could have created a decent component system. Oh well. I'll be buying a new DVD player soon.
I've had this thing (it's a Home Theater in a Box) for close to two years now, and I think it is an absolutely despicable machine. Right off the bat it had a difficult time reading DVDs, sometimes shutting itself off at the layer change, and other times not even reading the DVD at all. Now it's...
In all fairness, Harry Knowles was a VERY early advocate of this film, and while I think Harry likes movies way more often than he doesn't (read: he likes crap A LOT for a guy who is such a cinephile. I may have spelled that incorrectly but hey, it's 3 am), I still think you gotta like the guy...
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Episode I...both excellent discs (the thing with Ferrell and John Stewart talking about a certain female body part is worth the price of admission on the JASBSB DVD).
Matt, couldn't agree more...this pisses me off...for such a work of art (yes, I think "Prisoner" was art...say what you want, but Cuaron crafted a beauty of a movie), this sure is geared towards the kiddies. That's fine...but couldn't they at least throw a bone to those of us out of elementary...
This movie, hands down, was the best Potter movie yet, and one of the better releases this year. I'd say it's still #2 on my list. I'd really like it if they'd release a kid-friendly version and then a movie-fan version...because the other Potter DVDs are awful. A Cuaron commentary would be just...
The least the Wachowskis could do is provide a commentary. These guys are NOT the Mick Jaggers of the directing community...or perhaps Prince would be a more logical comparison...in either case, their poo stinks, just like the rest of us. The very fact that they refuse to have INVOLVEMENT in the...
I think I see "December 2004" on the white card above the set...this, of course, would only confirm what we've already known. I just wish they'd get official with the release date.
Oi...film studios should run preliminary cover art by US...right here, in this forum. There are no bigger fans of DVDs...we should be pandered to. We should be the ones to reject or aprove cover art. We should be the ones who inform the studios of what kind of extras a film deserves. Because...

Although it's far too much to ever hope for...but a Kaufman, or a Gondry, or a Carrey/Winslett commentary would be splendiferous. In any combination. All. One. Two. I just want some sort of commentary on a Kaufman movie!
Lew, "Corrupt" does not equal "accepts bribes." What I mean is that the Academy very clearly hands out awards based on factors other than the quality of the film. Without question, the winners are always good films...but they are often times not the "Best," which sort of takes away from the...
Does anyone truly care about Academy Awards? Do they somehow give a film more merit once it has been awarded a big, gold, naked dude? The Academy is, put simply, corrupt. ROTK was probably not the best film of last year, and Mystic River was probably not the best film of last year. But both are...
I just ordered it, but wanted to know if anyone owns it. I will probably do a review of it on my blog once it arrives and once I have a chance to watch it. But if anyone else has it, tell me: worth the purchase?
Horner's score for Troy is horrible. It completely throws you out of the film at times. And it is unforgivable what happened to Gabriel Yared, the man responsible for the initial score for Troy. If you haven't heard what happened, check out his website, read the story, listen to the score...
