Speculation on 2004 DVD of the Year

Will be close whoever wins. Be prepared for Star Wars though, from what I have heard so far it will have more special features than any other film released on DVD to date.

Thinking about buying a widescreen TV; need some help...

I have widescreen and I feel its the only way to go. I recently switched from Samsung HDTV to Sony HDTV. PQ on Sony is hands above the Sammy's in my opinion. Just pick what you feel looks best to you. One word of advice- A VERY important consideration for a widescreen purchaser is the...

but.. but... im not supposed to hear a difference!

Its seems to me that you arent comparing two different digital transport systems here but comparing two different players. Any difference in sound can not be attributed to the cables used. You are using two different sources here. If there were no difference in players everyone would have the...

What the...?!??!? ZOMBI 2 2 disc version NOT flagged for FILM (progressive) mode???

I also have a PS JVC DVD player and have noticed a few mis-flagged discs. The best way I have dealt with them is to just take the DVD player out of progressive mode and watch them interlaced. No more combing. Problem solved.

    Sony KV-27HS420 vs Samsung TX-P2775H

I have recently made the switch from a Samsung 4:3 to the new line of Sony 16:9 (HS420 Series). When I purchased my first HDTV (the Samsung) I was very happy with it. At the time the Sony's price was quite high. (two years ago) Before I made my purchase I did ALOT of research and...

    50ft-100ft Optical cord?

Are you stuck using the optical? If possible use coax, its more durable. The fiber doesnt respond well to being rolled up or crimped. Very fragile. Sounds like you will be using it for a bit then rolling it up until the next use. If its your only option just be cautious where you put it so it...

I concur with Mike. I have a URC 8910 that my wife likes to use. Was a snap to program and has head to head learning and macro capability. Dont think this model is available now but somthing close certainly is. Check out the other posts and if you find somthing you like but no longer made there...

So are all you Sony KV-30HS420 owners happy with your purchase?

I haven't noticed the dark smudge in my set. Perhaps it was due to being set on the torch mode settings that most display sets seem to be set to while on the showroom. One thing you mentioned though, this Sony does not have a DVI input. It has the newer HDMI connection. This connection carries...

So are all you Sony KV-30HS420 owners happy with your purchase?

I have this television and really enjoy it. It replaced a 27" 4:3 Samsung HDTV that I had for about two years and was never really satisfied with. As far as the Sony goes, I love it. Excellent PC out of the box. First thing to do is to get a calibration disc like Avia or Video Essentials and...
