Screen, mounting (which I did not mention), and cables, add considerable cost to a projection system and deserve consideration. Will spending twice the money get twice the viewing quality? Why eliminate LCD? I have had an LCD for almost two years and am very pleased.
I use Klipsch RS-7's for my sides which are listed as wall mountable. That said when I saw how big and heavy they were I went to Home Depot and bought some small shelves to support them.
Cornwalls front, RC-7 center, RS-7 sides, KG-5.5s in the rear. I have had the Cornwalls since the early '80s and have been happy with them. If I were starting over and money was no object I would listen to Magneplanes(sp?) before purchasing again.
I have a 20-39PCi in a basement theater (12' x 37') on a concrete floor. I will never try but I am not 100% sure that I couldn't tear the house down with it.
I have the L-500 Panasonic with a 92" Carada white screen, I can not comment on the 900 but I can say I am completely happy with the 500 and the 900 is two generations better. By all accounts both a very good and I am sure either will satisfy.
Now if I choose to go the Outlaw route do I go with a receiver/amp or separates?????..........hmmmmmmm have to think about that one........ They have a preamp (970 I think) which is the front end of their 1070 receiver, meaning if you want separates later you already have a good preamp...
As a side note, does klipsch give anyone else a headache when listening a moderately high levels? Every sound is as if it was played two inches from my ear...OUCH! I let it go because in the same post he also said he had only heard them (RF-7's) in a store and CV has deeper and more...
Quick shout out: Hey Oren, good to see a fellow Gainesvillian out there, we are even in the same zip code! I DID NOT EVEN NOTICE. We should get together and compare HT's and notes since it always seems to rain in Ga on Saturday, which is why I'm here and not out riding.
I have Klipsch in my theater room (Conwalls front, RC-7 center, RS-7 sides, KG-5 rears), my stepson has Cerwin Vegas in the pool room next door. To be kind I will merely describe te CV's as a teenagers speaker. If you are looking for the most bang for your buck (and if you like the sound of the...
Rick I have a Yamaha RXV-1400 that I am happy with. I am not sure if there is any JUNK at your price point and all mentioned here are good. That said if I were buying today I would consider the offerings at www.outlawaudio.com if I were buying today, at the time I purchased they were kind of...
Stay out of Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.... I have a Panasonic 500 projector that I watch everything on (92" screen). I have had it over 1-1/2 years, paid under $3,000.00 cables, extra bulb, screen (carada standard bought separately but included in the 3000), and ceiling mount included. The...
kyle You have contracted a disease, upgradeitis, which is fatal to most wallets. Take your time, work out the upgrade path you want to take. First, chose your speaker, no other component affects the sound more. If after a lot of study you chose efficient (90db or higher) speakers buy them...
I have a 20-39PCi in my 12' X 37' and I am happy. My girlfriend's stepson has a 25-30PCi in a smaller room and his also sounds great. If I ever have a "money is no object" opportunity to put together a system it will include an SVS sub. That said the others listed are also respected.
If you are buying the parts and intergrating them into your theater yourself you can put together a "kick-ass" system you will enjoy for years. You don't have to spend over your budget for a great theater. Once you get started it is not as hard as it seems at first glance.
Questions 1.) Are you buying equipment and setting it up yourself for the amount mentioned or, on the other extreme, are you having a theater built from scratch, or something in between? 2.) Do you intend to use any equipment you already own?
I purchased a Yamaha RX-V1400 18 months ago and I am happy with it. That being said if the Outlaw had been availible at that time I would have purchased it.
I have Klipsch (Cornwalls front RC-7 Center) in my basement theater 37' X 12'. My stepson has Polks in his room which is 20' X 11'. They are very different but both are very good. The size of your room could be the determining factor. The klipish's will produce strings and horns better but the...
I use the RC-7 as my center, my Fronts are Klipsh Cornwalls which to my ear sound a bit more mellow than their current offerings, check E-Bay to see if you can find a pair of Cornwalls near you, I have seen them for as low as $400.00, then you can also upgrade your electronics. The new Outlaw...
I have a 20-39PCi in a 12' X 35' room and I am very pleased. If I had it to do over I would get the Ultra. The internet companies SVS, HSU, and Outlaw offer the most bang for the buck I could find 15 months ago when I spent 6 months listening to every thing I could doing research. Do not trade...
Keep the openings, while perfect with no light a HT front projector is still very good at low light. Can you hang drapes to close these areas off when desired? BTW I have a L-500 Panasonic that is great in a 12' X 35' room with a 92" standard white screen.
