MASTER BURN-IN THREAD: READ THIS FIRST! (And ask follow-ups here.)

I have a Hitachi 51" widescreen. Contrast is set to 36% and I try not to watch too many 2:35-1 widescreen movies, but when watching a network HDTV broadcast, the program is widescreen and all the commercials are not, so I get sidebands during the commercials. I can zoom in during the commercials...

    Minimizing burn-in on RPTV

    Denon DVD-910 vs. Mitsubishi DD-8040

I very much like the performance of my DVD-910, except for questionable build quality. The disk tray seems very fragile and wobbly, and I'm afraid that an accidental jolt might crumple it. From what I've heard, the Mitsubishi is virtually the same machine and was probably built at the same...

FIRST POST :-) looking for cheap place to buy Mitsubishi DD-8040

Why is this machine so hard to get? Either Mitsubishi is doing a lousy marketing job, or there's something wrong with it. None of the national chains that carry Mitsubishi products seem to have it. Something's fishy. Think I'm gonna stick with my Denon 910.

FIRST POST :-) looking for cheap place to buy Mitsubishi DD-8040

This seems to be a very hard player to find. Of all the major chain retailers in my area (Northeast) onlt PC Richard lists it, and my local store doesn't have any. Hard to find it on the web either. Makes you wonder.

DVD Players With 'Resume Play' (?) Function?

I had the SD-3900 and replaced it for that very reason. Too bad, because otherwise it's a great machine. I know the Sony 725, which sells for $129 at Circuit City and Best Buy, has the resume feature. Or, you might be able to pick up a Panasonic at Costco that does it. Get a model number, go on...

    Pioneer 563A

Also, would I have to go out and buy a whole slew of special cables for this? Does it come with the usual standard cheap connectors? Thanks, guys.

    Pioneer 563A

I'm thinking about buying this, but in looking at the back connections, I don't understand how the center, surround and subwoofer outputs go into my receiver (Yamaha HTR-5250), unless they go into the external decoder jacks. Assuming that's true, I guess I would have to turn the external decoder...

    Question For Toshiba SD-4900 Owners

The Toshiba machines do not memorize a stop point when the power is turned off. The disk starts from the beginning. There is no way to prevent this. You have to see the point at which you stop it, then search for it when you turn it on again.I have a Toshiba SD-3900 and I had the same problem. I...

    Denon DVD-910 vs. Mitsubishi DD-8040

For the uninitiated me, exactly what is CSS and how does it being on or off affect the picture? I like the Denon 910 except for the fact that it won't do the small zoom - DVD audio is not a big issue for me - and the Denon happens to be black, which matches my other stuff. The Mitsu is only...

    Denon DVD-910 vs. Mitsubishi DD-8040

Just purchased a Denon DVD-910 and am satisfied with it except for the zoom feature, which does not allow me to enlarge the picture is small increments to just eliminate letterbox bars on 2:35-1 films. Picture quality is good and have not noticed any jitter issues. Some forum readers have...
