Darren, I can't wait to read the article in HTB! I'm so glad to hear that your son made it through ok. And congratulations on your new business. Do you have a website? Mike
drobbins, Thanks for the info. I will be building a theater in a basement soon...and I think the dimensions will be similar to yours...except I think the ceiling may be a tad bit lower. I was also thinking of getting the 4805 and I was wondering if it would work in a smaller space. Mike
drobbins, Can I ask a few questions? 1. What is the size of your room? 2. How tall is the ceiling? 3. How far back is the projector mounted? Nice theater!! Mike
Darren, What was the size of the room before you started? Do you have any pics of it under construction? Jay, I think I agree with you...although I haven't really seen too many themed theaters. Mike
Hey folks... I was looking through the member galleries and I saw a cool theater called Tha Bridge. (http://www.hometheaterforum.com/gall...e-Home-Theater) It got me to thinking... Anyone else have/seen home theaters based on a theme? A particular TV show/movie/genre? Mike
I have been to the Home Theater Store...but it's been several years ago...and I didn't really know what I was looking at. Back then...they seemed to be pretty snooty. Not sure if that has changed. Mike
Hi folks, I have been looking at projectors online and and reading reviews...but now I am to the point where I want to go take a few for a test drive. Can any of you Houston folks recommend good places to go see projectors in action? Thanks, Mike
Adam, I can't see a name associated with it, but if you go to Member Home Theaters, then to Member Galleries...it's on the third page and it's called the Old Elm Theater. Once you click on the Old Elm, the sconce picture is on the second page. Thanks, Mike
Hi all, I was checking out the gallery and happened upon the Old Elm Theater. Awesome layout! I noticed the sconces used and really became quite interested in them. The sconces look like an arm holding a torch. You can see them in the gallery under the Old Elm Theater. Unfortunately, I...
Everyone, First off...thanks for the responses...it's been very helpful. Sounds to me like my best bet is to hold on to everything until I get into the new space and calibrate it. I'll definitely be picking up that Avia disc and an SPL meter. I'm sure I'll definitely want to upgrade...
Hey folks...
I have had some theater equipment for about 6 years that I haven't done much with. I purchased this stuff not knowing much about HT...and who am I kidding...I still don't know much! However, I'm trying to learn and trying to figure out if the equipment I have is decent.
My...
Brad, Thanks for the clarification on THX. I did some searching around and it looks like the Avia Guide to Home Theater is the disc to get. Would you agree? Also...do you know much about the RXV-995? Mike
Hey folks, I'm sure you hear a million questions just like this...and if I have posted this in the wrong forum I apologize. OK...here goes... I have some home theater equipment set up in a living room at the moment. My receiver is a Yamaha RX-V995. My speakers are Boston Acoustic...
Hi all, Does anyone have a good online source for room darkening shades? Can these be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes? Any suggestions from folks who have bought shades for their theater/media room? Thanks, Mike
Hey all, I was wondering if anyone might know if a piece of equipment exists that would, in effect, broadcast mp3s played from my PC to my receiver. The issue is...my whole house isn't networked...and my PC isn't near my receiver. Anyone know if any sort of "wireless" device is out...
Hey Wayne, We're practically neighbors! =) Well...not really...but close enough. Thanks for the suggestions! Do you know anyone in Houston that sells room darkening shades? Also, do you know if the paneling is bad acoustically? Mike
