i also got a pair of paradigm titans for $250us and love them. since they'd be cheaper in CA you might be able to get some floor speakers like the phantoms which would give you a much fuller sound... or just save the leftover $$ toward speaker stands or cables or a new receiver or whatever. i...
my big thrill when i got my speakers (and sub) was to put in my favorite few cd's and just be amazed at how much better they sounded... it was like hearing them for the first time again. and i only have titans and a modest pioneer receiver :emoji_thumbsup:
i have a pair of titans (yay budget) and i've been very satisfied. i auditioned at least a dozen different brands of speakers and countless different models and i thought the paradigm was the absolute best i could get for my money (with phase tech running a close second for me).
yea, i just got a pair of titans for $219... they're out there :) as an alternative, i seriously considered Phase Tech's teatro 4.5's. great speakers for music, in my opionion. the only reason i went with the paradigm was that the quoted price i was getting was lower and my budget was already...
i've narrowed my decision down to paradigm performance series or phase tech teatro series. i've seen a lot of satisfied paradigm owners here, and was hoping i could get some testimonials about phase tech since it seems to be a much smaller company.
pablo, that's an incredible deal on the pioneer receivers! they got great reviews at cnet. I just ordered the 812k (cheapest I'd seen it before was over $350!) bloody!! >:E not allowed to post url's yet! grrr... att.com.com/Home_audio/4521-6531_7-5021436-1.html?tag=more
i'm looking at a similar price range and brands. it's been tough for me to find a quality 5.1 system with receiver under $1k. The paradigm cinema 70 5.1 system would run around $780 (that's what i was quoted) without a receiver. Throw in something like a denon 1604 or a similar yamaha and you're...
just for an update: i snuck in to the local best buy this morning when it was relatively quiet. i listened to a pair of the JBL n24ii's and a pair of E20's... the E20's were decent, but no more than decent. the dispersion was terrible on them. walking around a bit in front of them, the volume...
i'll try to get in to best buy early some weekday morning and hopefully it'll be quiet. last time i went in the place was packed and there was so much noise that i couldn't really hear anything... stupid warehouse stores
sweet, thanks! now it's just a matter of deciding between titans+sub or phantoms.... or the equivalent from some other brand. first audiophile shop i went to the guy showed me paradigms and i fell in love with them (he demoed a cinema series 5.1 system for me). the phantoms wouldn't have that...
I'm looking at a similar price range for speakers (~$500) and was thinking either a pair of paradigm titans with a prd-10 sub, or maybe just a pair of paradigm phantoms. i'd like to give that JBL 5.1 system a good listen (the one made of n24ii's), but the only place that carries JBL around...
