I ordered the a rsw10d subwoofer. I got it on clearance. It worked for a few minutes then just stopped. If i open it up to see a wire came off would it void my warranty?
I agree that diy would be best but I am not sure i the current equip i have is better than the components in any of these subs. If i did buy new parts it would 6 months before i could get it built. I will probably take the shiva and build a box for the wifes yukon.....that will piss her off lol
here is my build http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...sub-thanx.html I used a shiva mk 3 driver and mcm amp. I thought about that but i just do not have the time or desire. It was fun pre-kids but now i want/need to do other things and w/o getting a new more powerful amp i do not think i...
Current speakers Klipsch Ref. 3 series center/rears and ref 3 II floor speakers (37hz low) and DIY subwoofer tuned very low but is 6.5 cu ft. Our new old farm house is SMALL and the sub is to big. My budget is
wow I have not been here in years...anyway. I have a LARGE DIY sub in the corner of my small room. It is only about 1600cuft. I need to get it out to make room for more kid toys. I watch mainly movies. My budget is under $200 shipped. (See kid toys for the reason) I am thinking a 10" is big...
they do have computers scanning your email for key words so that they can customize their adds directly to you. so as long as you do not mind the privacy invasion by google it is a great deal. I personally do not mind, as long as I know about it advance. it is free and if i do not want privacy...
I got mine a couple of weeks ago. I sent it back w/ the form filled out. they emailed me w/ in a day or two saying it was diffently a valid warrenty issue and they would send one out to me as soon as they restocked. It would have been much fast except they were out of stock. It took about 2 wks...
yes, I saw the same thing when i was buying my port from acoustic visions. I asked them what the difference was and they replied that they are the same. they sale the adire port. They include free shipping which makes the price the same so just buy it from whom every you are buying your other...
oh. like said never have used one. just was assuming 1/2 since that was what i used and the jig sticker was exactly 1" off. other than a very minor qa problem these jigs are good? I might pick one up some day. my hard board w/ a screw worked but was pretty much a one time use jig.
ummm...I do not have one of the jigs or any other for that matter. Just made my own. But if you if you are using a 1/2 dia bit....i am just thinking out loud here but in their example wont the disk that gets cut out be 8 15/16 and the hole 9 15/16. maybe their example was for making a round...
wet the wood w/ mineral spirts or plain water and take a picture of it, maybe someone might know what it is. here are some links w/ samples. http://www.blueheronwoods.com/WoodsDomestic.htm http://www.blueheronwoods.com/WoodsExotic.htm
thanks. Well, I finally got my replacement shiva in the mail. the first one was defective. So I have the box down w/o any of the finishing trim or top, just mdf. sounds great. put it place and it does not look that bad hidden behind the couch. might stay that way for awile since i am...
maybe your speaker is bad. How far can you move it before you hear the "bottoming" out noise? I had a bad shiva. it would move in fine w/o any noise but sounded bad when it hit anything above a footstep. i pulled it from the box and pushed from the back and it would only move about 3mm before it...
I am building my first sub also, I am just waiting for my warrenty replacement shiva to arive and I am done. (the first was defective, very fast replacement. good company) I lurked and searched on this website for awhile then posted some questions. Almost every question I had was already...
I have stupid question so I might as well bury it in this thread. I am waiting for my shiva to arrive and I have pondering this, if I buy 1/2" wide closed cell foam and try to apply it to the flat horizontal mating surface of the cabinet or the driver it will crinkle up (technical term) as i...
i am in the process of building a 115L vented box also. the adire plans do not say heavy fill. http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/Vent...plications.PDF page nine, second to the last paragraph says "all cabinets are designed assuming no polyfill is used." I am not going to line my walls...
I just bought the jvc from best buy. 250 on sale. It was rated only behind the toshiba in consumer reports (not that they are the best reviewers). I went w/ the jvc because best buy had 3 open box toshiba's for sale all w/ broken/cracked cases in the corners. One is a drop, three MIGHT be a...
I used to want to diy some speakers, besides the sub I am building, until I got a good deal on some klipschs. I plan, since I knew nothing, was to follow a proven design and learn along the way. They have the box designed and crossover done. You can even buy the crossover already built...
the mounting flang of the port is 7.25. The flat part of the flange is 1/2". So 7.25 - (2 x 1/2) = 6.25" you can make the hole smaller if you chamfer or radius the edge has mentioned about but the out side point will still be roughly 6.25" I wanted to mount mine w/ threaded inserts so I...
I am in no real hurry but I did pull on of the 12yr old pyle drivers out of the speakers in the garage and just layed it in the opening. I did not hook up both voice coils. I was not sure if it was 4or8 ohm coils. did not want to hurt the amp screwing around. This thing is going to be loud. It...
I am sure it will be fine. The dealer and adire seem to be very reputable. not worried about it, it is just a pain. especially since I am new to DIY speakers and this is my first project. Thought I had it all figured out. Had my brother come over, got the beers out. turned it on and got nothing...
yep, that is how mine sounds. I got it from the same batch as you then. I am filing out the form now. Mine was not double boxed. The label is right on the white shiva box....however, my amp from Parts express was double boxed I hope it is not a hassle. If i would have known i would...
ok, I think I have bad speaker. after running it from my receiver it still made the same noise. sounds like a rattling trunk lid on a ricer. I removed it from the box, turned down my plate amp. still made the noise at low levels. both voice coils made the noise running seperately and...
thanks. It is wired correctly...I checked walked away and checked again. Funny haw something that should work doesnt can make you unsure about something has easy as two wires. I moved the cone and seemed to be fine. I will get my head closer to it and listen.
