HELP - A Spider Died on my Screen!!!

I have a Toshiba 57H83 with the protective screen still installed. Last night while the missus and I were watching Alias on DVD I noticed a spider shape on my screen during very bright scenes. This image hadn't been present earlier watching the Olympics in HD. Further inspection showed...

    540p or 1080 i

My Toshiba (57H83) has the option to switch from 540p to 1080i. You can only switch this when receiving a 480i or 480p signal. All other signals, I believe, are upconverted to 1080i. For DVD I find it best to run my DVD in interlaced and watch film in 1080i. Animation seems to look best...

help with my new Toshiba 51hx83...

I have a 57H83 and a Pioneer dv-45a. I run mine in interlaced and let the TV do its thing in 1080. Some vid looks better in 540p (animation, for some reason). You can turn the Film/Video off on your preference (3:2 pulldown). I set mine to NORMAL or FULL, though FULL is a stretch mode, so if...

    HD Cable or SAT?

I live in the greater ATL area and can tune in a myriad of OTA HD channels, including all the networks. This combined with the expanded offering on Directv made the choice for me easy. The HDNet and Disc HD programming is actually pretty good as well. Its also a great way to show off your...

    Tosh 57H83 Questions...HELP!!!!

Kumar, the HX83 is the upgraded version of the H83...I think its called the CineSeries. It has 5 guns instead of 3 and some other goodies that were unproven, so I chose to go with the H83. John, Touche and thanks for the advice. I wasn't about to go to GTA to buy my television, but if I...

I have a 57H83 and its in the menu....pretty obvious if your TV has it...you can pick 540/1080. I have a very nice p-scan dvd player as well (Pioneer Elite 45a) and run it in 480i and let my TV convert to 1080i....this results in the best picture. Bummer, but true.

    DVD Recorder - Technical Questions

I'm considering buying one of these and I have some questions. 1. Does everyone agree that buying the model with the HDD is worth the extra $$? 2. Some have Component IN and OUT....I thought these babies could only record in 480i? Will running these through component instead of S-Vid...

    Pioneer Elite 45A Questions.....HELP!!!

A couple of questions for the forum: 1. Do most of you send a progressive image to your monitor or let your TV convert? My Tosh 57H83 will upconvert all 480i/p signals to 540p or 1080i. Suggestions? 2. Does this DVD player have a "blacks" control? I am going to calibrate my TV later this...

    Tosh 57H83 Questions...HELP!!!!

I recently purchased this TV after much lurking on this site...as such, I feel the forum is honor bound to answer my questions.... 1. I know this TV upconverts 480i DVD info to 540p (or 1080i if I so choose). What about DirecTV non HD material...this is 480i right? Is it upconverted - what...

First, let me thank the forum for the good advice that lead up to me choices below. Also see some questions I have regarding my system. I went from a 32" tube to: Toshiba 57H83 HDTV Monitor Zenith SAT-520 with DirecTV HD Package (via DVI) Pioneer Elite DV-45a (component video) Using...

    Toshiba...Toss-Up???

For my money I'd buy the 57H83, convert to DirecTV and buy a DirecTV/OTA HD receiver, such as the Zenith SAT 520. The program guide is incredible and seamlessly joins analog, HD and Sat channels into one guide...it can even separate sports, movies, etc. I have this current system and it...

Early in my search for a widescreen....

I just did an exhaustive search and research myself...most of it over the summer "lurking" on this very board. I chose the Tosh 57H83. I've coupled this with a Zenith SAT-520 DirecTV/OTA HD Receiver and a Pioneer DV-45A dvd/sacd/dvdaudio player. I paid $1799 for the TV + Tax + $49...

    HDTV is always 16:9 Telecast?

For my research Toshiba and Hitachi had the best stretech modes....though the NEWER Hitachi's were best....The S series rather than the F series. You'll see the F series on sale quite a bit - don't be fooled.

    HDTV is always 16:9 Telecast?

Tim K - why then is ABC Monday night football advertised to be in HD, but broadcast, at least in ATL market via OTA Antenna, in 4:3? This is truly annoying to me....am I doing something wrong? When I tune in CBS OTA I get a super crisp 1080i HD signal and the CBS SEC game of the week looks...
